57*F with lights off too cold??

Hey all just woke up from my first day of 12/12 with the girls. Went to open the closet grow room first time after lights off and I come to find my grow room got down to 57*F :O is that too cold? I've read mixed answers as to " under 70F to cold for vegging although flowering plants like the cold. ( not to much lower) " and also things like "under 60F marijuana plants virtually stop growing." So I don't know if I'm safe.... Thanks all

Ack, yes.. 60 is bare minimum and even then it can cause stress... 57 needs to be higher... would say 65-70, with the 'on' temp being 10-15 degrees higher... with the 'on' not to exceed low-mid 80s.

It's not "too cold" but it's pretty chilly. Leaves are likely to change colors especially towards the end of flower. Some people like to have late flower plants in the sub 60 range to bring out the color in the leaves.

I don't think your gonna hurt the health of your plant but I think you might hurt your yield somewhat in the long run, or make you run the flower period longer. There's a lot goes on at night with a plant and the colder you let them get the slower those processes run. That said, I've done "numerous" outdoor grows where the last couple weeks b4 harvest temps were getting into the 30's overnight and they seem to love it.

This happened to me in January. The temperature in my flower room dropped to 54 F for almost 2 days during the night before I noticed it.
My plants never seemed to show any visible affects, but I think AimAim is right because the plants were dwarfed and the production was very low.
I'm with Figong on this one also. I have taken measures to ensure that my room won't drop below 60 F at the very lowest; I prefer 70 degrees but that's not always possible.
I think you will be fine, with perhaps some stunted growth.
Good Luck.

I don't wanna live with stunted growth so fix it time! Ok I live in a very old home that has no central ac or heat (wall heater all the way on other side of house that does nothing to my room let alone my grow closet inside my room). So im guessing I need to buy a space heater? im just thinking shit is this going to be a waste of money because its almost spring here in nor cal and I know its gonna get hot very soon.....

A very cheap foam insulation would work, with mylar on top of it for reflective properties to keep cold out, and still reflect light? Much cheaper than buying a space heater for that area, and depending on how it's implemented, would be easy to take down as the temps get better.

are your lights on a night or day? if they are currently on during the daytime, change it to night time.

I have mylar up already and it does a good job keeping temps up with lights on, what I usually have my grow closet set up is I have one of the slider doors almost fully open with a floor flan blowing cool air in keeping the grow room at a constant 71-73F, I think what im going to try for a night to see if it works (before I change lighting setup up to lights on at night and off in day time although idk about that, or just getting a space heater) is instead of keeping it constant 71-73 take the fan out, close the door and allow it to gain some heat. When I was vegging 24/0 and would leave the lights on at night (by the way im running 2x240w Blackstar LED's) my grow room would get usually around to 77-79 but sometimes could real 81. So i'll just stop the intake fan, allow some heat to build up before lights out , get it to like 77, then lights out and see if it drops to 62-63. If it gets around that I should be O.K right?

because before I hit the lights out last night, with my intake fan going lights on my grow room was at 71F, so it dropped 13-14degree's im thinking maybe it'll do the trick....

Ghetto- if you objective is to maximize the harvest, then I suggest buying a heater. Keep your temp. range within 10 degrees from low to high.

You never know when you will get a cold snap and all above suggestions will fall short.

Normally, I don't recommend buying more equipment, but in this case, you will use the heater for many years and your plants will be much happier.

Controlling your environmental conditions is the first step to consistent harvesting.

Flipped the lights of last night at 79F. Check it this morning and was at 61F... it should be starting to get warmer any days now so you guys think 61F will be ok for a week or two? or should I just get a space heater already. Tonight will be night 3 of lights off
