yeah, I would do that as that is exactly what happens in nature.
I really can't think of anything that would stress and confuse the plants more than implementing that light schedule. If anything, you want to slowly decrease the amount of light time to maximize the production of flowering hormones. The flowering hormone is always present but is interrupted by the presence of light. Even a little amount of light. The prolonged nights that induce flowering allow larger levels of the flowering hormone to build up..and bang..flowers. Running 24 hours of light would eliminate thee flowering hormone.
But, in the interest of prolonging the existence of MJ urban legends.
..there are also a ton of other things you can do that have no effect on yield/potency. Twist a knife in the main stalk, hang the entire plant upside down when drying, and blasting the plants with nutes in the last two weeks.
