5×5 with sf4000?

Hey guys im setting up a 5×5 mars hydro tent. was orignally thinkin of going with a couple blurple lights or sum cree cobs but seeing info on here and checking it out the sf4000 seems to be the better option...is the sf4000 the best option or can sumone point me in a better direction b4 i place my order...plan on growin 4 to 6 plants in the 5×5

These are more expensive, but I think you'll have better results if your budget can handle it. Look at the drop off in light intensity as you move out from the center.

If youre set on spiderfarmer: youll be better served by having 2 or ideally 4 of their smaller fixtures, ideally 4x 200 watt fixtures. That space needs about 750w at least for ideal light levels.
One central light would have to hang high and youll have low light levels in sides and corners. Ymmv

Rocket soul is very correct. Not only does 1 large fixture limit you in edges and corner light intensity, but the ability to have 2-4 different fixtures for variable hanging heights throughout the run, to accommodate stretching and what not, is reason enough to get a few smaller sized ones rather than 1 big setup. Learned that the hard way...

thanks for the replys guys. its exactly the kind of info im looking for. im new to growing and dont want to place an order untill im 100% sure. i figured multiple smaller would be better then one big. my hearts not set on any particular brand. was only lookin into the spider farms because i see alot of ppl on here talkin about them. im shootin for 35-40 watts per sqaure. from wat im reading that should be optimal for yield. was origanlly thinkin bout 1000w overall which sf4000 doesnt achieve but was reading posts of ppl sayin the sf4000 does good in a 5×5 so thats why i was looking into that....just want to be pointed in the right direction for max quality and max yeild...its gonna be aeropnic set up also

Price point and environmental parameters will be key in deciding I imagine? LEDs cost for good full spectrum white light, plus added this and that even more.
Hps is a cheap startup but costs other ways such as more heat management.
You should do a lot of research on both types of lighting, see which one suits you and your planned style.
It doesnt always have to be the next best thing to start.
But if ya got the cash, it doesnt hurt .

I agree with these other replies. I run an SF2000 in my 2x4, and while it's adequate I definitely feel like it could handle more light. So I feel like the SF4000 just wouldn't be enough in a 5x5. Obviously it would grow weed for you but you'd end up wanting more. 3 sf2000's would probably do the trick but at $900 you could probably figure out something better for only a little more. Like 2 Timber 4VS or a Timber Redwood VS + 3 Daisies.

Or for half the money you could hammer it with HID lights.

I have run both, and now Timber...wicked lights and solid warranty. I also have some mars sp models for added spectrum and an sf2000 in my veg tent. All are working great for me so far.

keep the input comin guys deff appreciate it. this tent is just the start. its gonna be a flower tent and plan on setting up a veg tent while this first crop grows. i thought about goin hps which would prob eliminate alot of the guess work for me but worried bout the heat being an issue so led deff looks the better way to go for me

If you have any interest in building your own then take a look at this thread. I just ordered the light strips and drivers to build the same thing but with 8 strips instead of six. The people in that thread told me that six will be good for a 4x4 but I wanted to make mine so it had similar output to an HLG 550.

These are the parts I’ve ordered so far. With tax and shipping it came to $308. The only other costly parts I need to get, is the heatsink bars for each light strip, which will cost me around $80-$90 for all 8. Then I just need thermal tape to mount them, angle aluminum to build the frame, and I already have a ton of wire.

so this is only 3500 in this build so technically not fullspectrum correct?

Correct, I will probably add in some other deep/far red and some blue diodes at some point to fine tune it, but people say these builds have really impressive results with just those strips.
