turnes out that 4 of the clones are from male (supposed to be female) plants so I only have 2 females that have roots, seems that the female clones took 2 xs as long to get roots. the male clones are rooting out of the box.... so about the 2 that didn't root, should i re-cut and gel them and try with the same cutting to root or should i cut new clones from my flowering plant? after cutting the clones i started flowering the plant.. or should i just give it another week and see if the roots are just taking longer than usual? they have been rooting for 16 days....

Let the females be untill they start to wither. Keep them covered, warm, and moist with light (not very intense) on them 24/0.

You may want to add a couple drops of hydrogen peroxide to a quart of water and water your trough with it. The extra oxygen will help to promote root growth.

Oh, did you scrap the sides of the stem and split the bottom of the stem prior to dipping it in rooting powder? This really helps create more root growth sites.

Good luck.

I followed the horticulure book by jorge cervantes... cut the end @ 90 degree angle then cut right down middle (spilt the end in half) then dipped in root tech generously then stuck it in the brown spongy thing that came in the clone box. did them all the same.... will add hydro perox. today to the trough have a 13 watt cfl overhead, not very bright light but book said to use small light and keep on for 24/7. I thought the ones that didnt root yet would actuall root faster because they were bigger (taller) clippings than the others so i wouldnt have to veg them as long. guess i wait either way lol

I have that book as well. Great read. All noobs should read it prior to signing up.

Im not sure if he said to scrape the outsides of the stem before you split it, but thats what i do.

A 13w CFL is perfect for your clones. I use rooting powder, and for that less is more. Too much damages the roots rather than growing them.

Aloha, a method I've used for quite a few crops--as the plants grow in the hydroponic box, they form what looks like a door mat in the bottom of the grow box. I dried this mat. I start clones in distilled water, with like a tenth of a crushed up baby asprin/gallon. I tightly stuff the dried "mat" into 2" net pots, in 24 holes in the top of a big walmart plastic storage box. Stick the clones---Shirley, can you workout lighting and water(keep it light-roots hold water). Droopy leaves usualy mean over watering. As soon as roots show, I transfer the best looking 16 to the grow boxes(2 wally boxes with 8 4" net pots)and cover with clay balls. My 2 recent posts is how I deal with spider mites(never take indoor plants outside), and male buds in very late stage budding plants. Talofa
