I see what you're going for. Pin/tie the branches to the walls of the box and put the lights to the middle. In Victorian times the French popularized a method of training fruit trees such as cherries to the inner walls of kitchen gardens. It would absolutely work, but would be possibly be labor intensive. Would be interesting to see photos of an experiment carried out...
