Hey im new to this site and to growing. My plants are going on 6 wks and they are just now showing some different problems. I planted them in regular soil and didnt give them any nutes untill about 4 days ago. I went out and bought Expert Garderner crap that is 24-8-16. It says to put 1 tbsp in a gal of water. Maybe i should 1/2 the dose?? :? I sprayed each of my plants with a very small amount. The next day the bottom leaves started turning yellow and some have browning tips. They are now begining to curl just a bit. The newer leaves are still very green and look healthy as you can see in the pics. Also, i started these plants out side and then brought them inside about 2wks ago. All plants are the same age but for some reason 1 is growing bigger then the others but i think its because the pot it is in is alot bigger. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Help me i do not want to lose these plants...

looks/sounds like some minor nitrogen burn, but nothing too bad they will live through it. I reccomend never misting your leaves especially with nutes, that could be what caused the burning. Always start with 1/4 strength for your first feeding and slowly work your way up to full strength. Just flush them with water for a few days they should be fine.

oh, welcome to the forums and good luck =)

Thanks. Only problem with the flushing is that im afraid of my soil turning into mud. I used regular soil as in Dirt pretty much LoL. Should i not give them any more nutes for a while?? And if so when should i start giving them more??

read your expert gardener product and see does it say
"contains colorant"
I had the same problem with expert gardener flowering plant food:
when I foliar fed them (or sprayed them), a few minutes later they had whites spots on the,:spew:
So I sprayed the leaves with pure water, but the problem didn't disappear until a few week later.

I no longer spray my crops with expert gardener. (mollases thats a different story)

idk if this is your problem, but it seems logical doesn't it???

Just use your plant food through the soils, and just mist leaves with ph'ed water for a few weeks

Are you sure about NEVER?

I'm not having a go, but I mist mine all the way through veg (with seaweed at 1/4 strength), and then Canna Boost (with a bit of seaweed occasionally) and have no problems AS LONG AS I KEEP AN EYE ON HUMIDITY and the plant itself of course.

One thing I ALWAYS do after misting is gently shake the plant so that any excess is immediately removed.

Always remember that plants can take nutrients from their leaves, not just their substrate. (Soil, coco etc.)

Anyway, hope you recover your grow and enjoy the fruits of your labour! :joint:

Whoa!! I would also suggest finding some peat moss or coco peat for those babies to be transplanted to

I have grown with regular dirt before....
It just doesn't have that mary jane quality.

thats why most outdoor growers dig up there plot and fill it with organic compost and a good soil of choice.

btw do your pots have holes in the bottom??

I heard it's bad to mist even with plain water. It drains the nitrogen out of the leaves and the water droplets act like tiny magnifying glasses and burn them if there is alot of light.

If you have drain holes in your pots, water them until you start seeing runoff. I feed my plants every other watering which is about every 4 days, but you should give them a few more to recover from the burn before feeding again.

Ya my pots have holes in the bottom.
Do you think it is safe to transplant them into better soil?? I have some miracle grow soil but i was afraid to use it because I was told it can kill your plants fast.

since there still young you should leave them where they are (good ole dirt.. it don't look too bad) until they become strong enough for the move

I would just give them water for the next two feedings and then introduce the nutes at a third to a quarter of what you gave them last time and then progressively give them a little more every two or three waterings. Same problems, worked for me.

it never hurts to transplant into better soil, but miracle gro might not be the best choice. It won't kill your plants but it has time-released nitrogen, which is what you just burned your plants with lol. I highly reccomend FoxFarm OceanForest soil, its 100% organic and pH balanced for optimum nutrient uptake. Cheap too, you can get a big bag for $15-20 at any hydro store/nursery or even online.

So how much should i actually be watering them?? I water them every time the soil seems to be dried out is that to much?? So i water them about every day more then twice day... and i dont drench them. i just use a spray bottle until the top soil seems moist.

a spray bottle might not be enough moisture. Don't be afraid to give them a good drink now and then, just enough so the water runs off the bottom of the pot.

I found what you are talking about but they want to charge me $40 just for shipping... Instead im going to make my own medium, 1/2 perlite and 1/2 peat moss. I went ahead and watched the Ready Set Grow from High times LoL. Thank You Though For your post.

Just as good, trust me, if your new to this, some soiless mix will make your life alot easier. I liked it so much I still use it. Look at my first grow journal and you will see I started out just like you about a year ago. You can check out the things I got to give you a rough idea of what to do. Good luck.

Foliar feeding is NOT bad! I foliar feed with nutes once a week and i also mist with water once a week. For best results do it in "lights off" so that you don't burn ur girls. (i actually do it when lights are on because of my personal schedule). Nature does it every night right? its called dew. And yea transplant, and no MG please.
