600 HPS Intermittantly shutting OFF!?!?

The 600 W HPS will randomly turn off... then fire back up in like 10 minutes.

I replaced the electronic ballast(Galaxy), thinking it was the culpret. no dice, still shutting off.

I figured if the bulb goes bad, it just burns out completely?

this ever happen to anyone else??

When it happened to me it was the ballast ignitor the bulb would start warming up and shut off then when it cooled it would do it again. But sounds like ur problem Is in the bulb. Make sure its a universal burn if u have it vertically the like I've had a horizontal only the wouldn't fire if it was tipped too far. Once it was burning u could move it tho

The bulb is mounted horizontally. It worked flawless for about 6 months before this problem showed up.

I am leaning towards the bub to, but just thought it unusual a faulty bulb would fire up after burning out. Or the ballast might be sensing a problem with the bulb and shutting itself off?
