600 watt heat problems

I bought the 600 Watt grow kit from HTG Supply.

However I could only afford the 4" carbon filter fan combo that has 170cfm. I wish I could get better ventilation but truly can't afford more.

I am using an air cooled tube with the glass cover.

How much of a problem will heat be in my grow tent?
Would it be so bad that I'm better off abandoning the whole thing, or would I be able to get away with it?

i run a 4x4x7 secret jardin tent. i run a 600w 6" cool tube w/xl hood. i run a 6" 440 cfm ventech fan with speed controller. i also have a 6" 250cfm booster intake fan and an 8" 550cfm booster exhaust fan and 2 5" clip type fans. my stable lights on temps are 79*. ive tried to adjust the speed controller, anything from 50-100% results in the same tent temp. so i run at 50% to save on electricity. this is in my veg tent. in flower tent, same as veg, but adding a 6" 440 cfm ventech fan coupled to my monster DIY carbon scrubber, and 1 more 5" clip type fan.

Whoa. First of all to the guy with all those fans. You're doing it wrong. I have a 600w cool tube in a 2x4 closet with 2 270cfm fans. One for the closed tube, and one for the room. 79 is decent but lower is better.

If you are extracting the heat from you 600 properly you will cut the temp by about 15 degrees. I added a 1gal humidifier to not only increase humidity but lower temps by 4-5 degrees. Brining my closet from 95 to a constant 75

I later went on to add an AC unit. Now I have pin point accuracy anywhere from 70 up. Where ever I want it. And I guarantee my set up cost less brand new then all those fans! Geez. I don't even know what to say to that thinking. I would get an AC and save those fans for when you want to scale up and add another light/room/tent.

So...those are great set ups, but will I be able to get away with using the 170 cfm fan if the ambient room temps are 75-79 degrees?

There is also a 6" oscillating fan in the tent if that helps.

I think you might be able to get away with it man, I just had a heat problem with my 2 600watt lights. What is the temp getting to in your tent currently?

Sweet, set it up when it gets in and PM me and let me know what temps you're reaching. Also remember to let it run for a couple hours to get warmed up in there. Getting your temperature right is not usually easy, every op is different, and area effects it as well.

Multiple temp gauges is a good idea. And the number one most important thing is to never take the temp in direct light of you hps/mh/sun always take the temp in the shade. Have no shade? Create some. The light will throw you off for days or weeks if you don't check in the shade.

Most important places I like to keep thermometers are floor level/ground level, canopy and where ever your fresh air exchanges.

if you create "shade" for your temp gauge, your not getting an accurate reading. the whole point of a temp gauge is to get accurate pot level temp readings, not a false shaded reading, no? i keep my temp gauge on the rim of my planters, under my hood. it reads 79* for the last 15hrs straight, and never been higher than 79*.

I've seriously been thinking about switching to a led, t5, & cfl combo. Ive grown with cfl's before so I know what Im getting myself into. I know the yields are a bit smaller but Its within my price range and much easier to deal with with for me. Since I already have 8 150 watt daylight cfls & 8 150W warm cfl,s I think I'll be ok. Last harvest I got around an oz per plant last grow using cfl only and it was the best smoke I had in my life. I vegged for 6 weeks and flowered for 8.
