Hi new to the forum but been a phantom member for a while. I am not new to growing but always welcome advice on the subject. I am prepping my grow room (7' x 6' x 5')ready for 6 fem DNA Genetics Rocklock plants and I am hoping to get some feedback about my setup and method.
I plan to use root riot plugs for the seeds initially as I have heard good things about them. They will be placed in a propagator and put under a 250W Hps at a distance so they arent boiled. I open the ducts on the propagator to introduce a less humid atmosphere when they look ready and when they have rooted well in the plugs they will be transplanted into 3" rockwool cubes inside of 1 litre pots cotaining clay pebbles/perlite. The pots will then be connected to the irrigation and placed under a 250W Hps lamp using a fan so I can get the light as close as possible to prevent stretching.
The irrigation system was made by ordering various pipes/plugs/fittings but is a typical design in that a pump submerged in the resevoir moves water up to the manifold / supply tubes to the drippers in the plants; then drains back down to the resevoir to be pumped up again.
When they outgrow the 1 litre pots they will be transplanted into 10 litre pots of the same medium rockwool/clay pebbles/perlite which will be the last repot. At around the same time the light will be changed to a 600W Hps which should give them the extra light they will be looking for.
All mediums will be soaked in a pH 5.5 solution prior to contact with the seeds / plants. Food will be Flora Gro / Bloom / Micro 3 part feed. Regular full cleans of resevoir and pH tests to ensure 5.5 reading throughout. Temperature will be kept at 24 degrees day cycle and 13 degrees night cycle for optimal growth. Veg and Bloom periods will be determined by a mix of suggested time for the strain and a view of maximizing yield.
I have a problem with ventilation but I am looking into ways of using a window whilst maintaining stealth - advice? The room is also large compared to the space the kit takes up - is the best idea to use reflective sheeting to divide the room to prevent light loss and promote maximum light usage? Any suggestions on when to introduce nutrients or whether to soak medium with a weak nutrient solution after tranplant (not during germinatin). Any advice about this specific strain would be awesome especially if it was grown in hydro.
Apart from above, can anyone rep / criticise the setup / method.
I have double posted this in growing and grow room design as I wrote it before noticing the two sections - my bad.
