600w HPS for 2x4x5 tent?

I'm wanting to know if a 600w hps with a wing reflector would be ideal for a 2x4 tent. I am wanting to do a 2x4 scrog. Should I go with a single 600w or should I invest the little extra for 2 400w hps lights. I keep the temperature in the room 70F or lower so I think I should be able to run the 2 400w without temp issues. Would like to run the single light if possible.

A 600 in there in an air cooled will more than cover and yes temp is an issue. A 600 throws a lot of heat.

I run a 600 in a 4' X 4' that's not filled. It's hot. You need air moving over the plants as well. But you probably know that.
Yea I have a fan on my current grow. Air cooled I'll get then. I currently only have the one fan for my filter with the tent being vented through the sides at the bottom. I'm assuming a 100 cfm inline fan run into the light from outside the tent should be fine with the tent being exhausted outside.

I would think so. It's enough to move the heat out. Or most of it. You can get plants closer a lit of time.

I had a better idea. Getting a hood with the glass cover and connecting my filter and exhaust fan to either side of it. Cut costs a little.

I have a similar set up. In hind site I think 600W may be much heat for that size tent. I'd suggest you go with 400W. For me alot depends on the ambient air temp. I'm in North East and my setup is in an unheated basement, so in the winter the heat build up is OK, in the summer I run ventilation at 100% and and use a fan to export heat as best as possible while watching the temp in the tent closely.

I would have a 4inch line w a 200cfm fan pulling air from outside, thru the light hood and back outside. Then a seperate 200 cfm fan pulling thru ur filter and exhausting into the room (not outside) and just use the vents to let air passively (no fan) be sucked in.

This is pretty much what I had to do. I've got a 600 air cooled hood in a 3x3 and tried using a 4" fan pulling through filter...then through hood and temps wouldn't come down far enough.
So now I have a separate fan for the hood and one for the filter. I have both coming out of tent to a Y connector and then vent outdoors.

What do u do for intake for the tent and light? Just passive?

4'' fan isnt gonna be enough. I have 2 6'' fans in my 2x5, and a 550cfm in my 4x4. Those can exaust fans you get at home depot/menards suck.
Ur pobably right its been 8 yrs since my last grow and i was doin this n a larger room w a small a c in the room. What cfm are ur 6 inch? Also as im about to start a 4x4 w a 600w myself, can u tell me more about ur ventilation for it. Mines gonna b n my basement w ac goin n the house.

I'm just using passive through a flap in the tent. Temp was sitting at 80 yesterday with light pushing 600w.
Normally I'm dialing the light down to 450w with only the fan on the light pulling heat out. I don't run the 4" with the carbon filter at all cuz I've got a bit of an air leak in the fitting to the light hood and so that fan is also pulling some air from the tent. The plants aren't stinking yet so it's working. Temps sitting around 78

Sounds good hope it keeps workin for u...im thinkin of doin th 4x4 im about to set up with a 4inch 200 cfm(or 6 in if necessary) pullin air from outside thru my light n bak outside. And then a second 4 inch pulling thru the filter out the top of the tent, but not outside, just into the room. And a passive vent at the bottom. What do u think of that? Anything i might not b thinkin bout or over looking?

I'm a new grower so I'm not super knowledgeable about it. I thought about running outdoor air through my light but it gets way too cold up here in the winter and there's likely to be condensation inside the light hood.
I also mentioned to someone awhile back about venting through carbon filter into my room (like you mentioned) and they said it would work but to be careful about humidity building up in the room. Then the humid air would be passively pulled into the tent. Just thought I'd mention that as it was told to me by someone on the forum

lol did you just quote yourself, and invite yourself to give yourself more advice?

my fan pulls about 4-500cfm and is a 6''. I got it on amazon for like 50. Yeah it cools my 800w 4x4 really well, I have a few other fans in the tent as well.
