I cant tell you in degrees, it really depends on your set up, venting situation etc. Is the hood vented? I run a 600w, and the temp outside effects the room more than the lamp itself.

i dont know those volksgardens, but would that be inside another room? IF people set up in the basement compared to the attic, they are going to have different temps regardless of the lights they use. Plus if you live in Canada, or Hawaii, big difference in temps unles you have a very controlled room with heater and AC unit. So room set up means everything when it comes to temps. I know from making mistakes. My temps are like 55 at night because of being in a garage type room. Too low, but i cant get a heater going in there atm.

this is my setup. i have a fan blowing fresh outside air thru the open window and beneath the 600. it keeps it in the 70s constantly. when i turn the fan off and just have the 600w with no ventilation, the shit heats up to 95 in no time.

well at least you found a use for that crib after its inhabitant moved off. haha. at least it looks like a crib. and if your going to use a 600w hps i would definateley set up a venting system to move the air out. in an enclosed space the temps can exceed 100 degrees if your not venting properly. especially close to the bulb itself. just make sure you have a good enough fan to vent all air out or your enclosed grow area ever 15 mins or so. if it moved the air out even faster that would be good.
