600w Hps... how far off the plant?

well, i have seen a grower get as close as 10 inches on his 600w hps grow. on this site matter of fact. not too long ago... given he had great ventilation

stick to the rule of wrist.... wait i mean thumb lol

Put your hand between the light and the plant, is your hand hot? if so it is too close. The usual rule is to keep a HID light 1-2 ft away from the tops but if you got that light cooled enough you can get it as close as you want, as long as it is COOL ENOUGH.

i run a 600w hps with a cooled hood and mine usually stays 10 to 12 inches above my plants. ventilation is very important.

I run a SunSystems Yieldmaster II. It has a glass cover and 6" side vents. I have it attached to a 6" vortex and I can drop it about 6"-8" inches from my plants. That is during cool weather though. In the summer I doubt I could manage that.

thas is a perfect chart.....that is asssuming its accurate, which it looks like it is. that being read, 10 or 12 inches away really has NOT that much difference for phto...which is the goal....its still 100% diff or whatever but if ten inches is too hot, go to 12, or 11......

very good question. that chart is sweet. hope its right.......600w vented, sealed is the ay to go..

give it more vent, get more light!!!
easier said than done.....

whats the temp running in there?
