600w or 1000w ?

if ur planning a vortex fan and all that stuff u listed then u will hear it some what through the wall a small vibration ya know as for the 220 volt i know most run on 220 but i think u can get some lights that have a convesion on them that make them 110 but u need to look into it plus i think if u get the conversion it will make alot of stress on ur wireing in the wall u know i grow with 2 (400 watt) lights and they work awsome so it up to u i grow 15 plants easy and im talkin 3-4 footers when there all done and harvasted i get about 2 onces each plant but i dont think youll get 15 four ft plants in the area ur growing in.

What kind of veg/flower are you on?

well the carbon scrubers do keep the smell down alot especially the outside smell or if ur in the apartment but if ur in the closet or even the bedroom u may still smell it but that depends on the strian too ive grow weed that stinks no matter what and then ive had some that have had NO smell ive also noticed that some days the plants smell realy bad and some days the same plants dont smell at all but i think that has to do with humidity or temp but i definatly recommend a scruber if ur try to steath grow.

So smells are going to be in my house no matter what ? damn i thought that if i buy all the good stuff i would be stealth and can have my parents over and no one would know even my bud smoking friends that i dont want to know what im doing your saying it will be that bad ?

i start with taking clones takes about 2-3 weeks to see roots i use 4 ft cool white lights with my clones as HID lights are to harsh for the delacate clones. i use 400 watt M/h hps convestion balest lights. i vegg for 2-3 weeks on M/H for 24 hours a day. when there at about 2 ft i switch to hps and start 12/12 the plant grows about 50% bigger when it budds resalting in a 4 ft plant when done i budd for about 10 weeks.i use flora seires genral hydroponics nutes throw the whole grow with liquid kool bloom in the last 3 weeks. also u need to start flushing the last 2 weeks too or u will have harsh burning weed when u smoke.

It was also explained to me recently that:

1) 600w will be more efficient, it uses less electricity and produces less heat requiring fewer temp controls to off set the heat.

2) At closer ranges the 600w may produce stronger usable lumens. Because the 600w puts off less heat the light can be closer to the plant especially in a cool tube or vented hoods, for example with a 600w maybe you can get it within say 6 in from the canopy (cool tube and mover) but with a 1000w you might only be able to get the light 12 inches from the canopy. If you look at the lumens output at 6 inches on a 600w and 12 inches on a 1000w it is possible for the 600w to out produce a 1000w, however the 1000w might be able to penetrate deeper into the plant and for taller plants this extra penetration might be worth the heat issues, but if you are doing shorter plants it might be more beneficial to use the 600w.


I'm no expert but this is a question I asked recently and have decided to go 600w because of the way it was explained to me, but this was the guy at the hydro shop so maybe he was just selling me a more profitable light... but he has not seemed to be the kind of guy that would do this IMO...

Whats better veg for 18/6 or 24/0 before flowering ? it seems most people veg 18/6 money is always a concern but not with this grow! so do most people veg 18/6 because of electric bill or something else. I thought clones only got 24/0

no u should not smell any thing if ur sitting in the living room but if ur in the bedroom that the closet is in then expect to smell some faint traces of the plant not to mention the oviboius light coming from under the closet door.and some very low volume nouise from the fans. the fans are probly the loudest thing in the room go plug in three fans in the closet and thats probly what youll be hearing so u get an idea.

yes clones get 24 hours 7 days a week is what i ment.i veg for 24 hours 7 days a week until the about 2 ft tall i dont know why some people veg for 18-6.then i go to 12/12 when i bud.

if i were u i would go with a 600 watt switchable ballest light and have a good intake from the outside and a good exhust to the outside with a scruber and u will be absulutly fine just make sure u cant see light coming from under the closet door and keep people out of ur bedroom and no one will know

So veg 24/0 7days a week? the plant doesnt need rest? Im buying small clones or seeds not sure yet, either way u say 24 hour light from time of germanation?

IT WILL SMELL... I was living in a 4500 sqft house with a walk in closet that was 5 x 8 and another side the same, I separated them with drywall, I had an air purifier filter thing and $200 ozone cleaner thing and if I didn't have them working and the door was open long enough I could smell it when I walked in the house from the front door, not close to the area of the grow, it's like you just burned an incense only distinctly cannabis. The tent they were in helped with the smell, but turned out to be killing them so I had it open second grow, thats how I figured that one out. It can be controlled, but take the issue seriously if you don't want people to know, some strains will be more fragrant than other also.

Just my experience, I grew 10 plants at about 24' tall, different strains. They do have some very sweet and fragrant smells that are incredible but mostly noticed after the 2-3rd week of flowering till after you get it into jars.

As for smell it seems the hotter the area the more smell but the strain plays a huge role. I have these Airwick automatic sprayers, 5 spread throughout house which sprays around every 30 minutes. Not much money and they help with the smell tremendously just don't put them near the plants. Hope this helps

ya weather there clones or seeds go 24/7 they need no rest when there at desired hight go 12/12 also it wont hurt them at all to cut back the light real quick just keep in mind when u start budding there gonna grow almost 50% bigger so dont wait till there 5 feet and start budding cause when there 6 weeks into budding they'll be touching the roof

1000 watts puts out about 167,500 lumens, if u got the money shall i say any more?
