600w or 400w for 32 X 32 X 63" grow tent

I plan on using a cooling tube, a carbon filtter/fan combo, and an intake fan. With a little under 9sqft of space is using the 600W overkill? Either way I will probably use the same cooling techniques so costs will be about the same. The upfront cost difference is maybe $70, so if there is much benefit I would go with the 600W.

With a 600w HPS in that small of area how complicated will cooling be? I can still use the carbon filter with exhaust fan right? Thanks guys!!

Whether i can keep it cool enough is really my question. Im not worried about the extra 200W of energy being used, its the additional heat that has me concerned.

Yeah 600w would definitely be a lot of light in that small area. Would be great if you could keep it cool. Any other info you can give us? Whats the regular ambient temp of the room?

Also are you about to have winter? Temperatures about to drop outside? Any place you could pump cool air into the tent from? A good place to displace the heat created by the light?

The room tempature is around 70F, so not too bad and yes its about to be winter. However id like to be able to use this light in summer as well. I do have a portable AC unit that i can use in the room to keep it additionally cool. The heat would be exhausted directly into the room so its not a great place to displace the heat but thats all i have.

My tent is 31" x 31 x 72". I have a 400w MH or HPS light running. I also have 2 exhaust fans (200CFM each) I can tell you from my set up if you use a 400w light that is not vented/cooled. The temps will be to high, mine were 90+ degrees untill I added the second exhaust fane for the light. The carbon filter seem to really cut down on the CFM's of the fan. My tent know runs about 78 degrees when the light is on.......makes it nice as I can get the light within about 12" of the plants, I think a 600w would be alot if you didnt have it vented really well. They say a 400W is good for 48" x 48" of plant space. I would say go with the 400W set up.....its pleanty for your set up

I know Stimatt isn't the OP but FYI two fans exhausting into one duct is a fairly severe restriction.

As was posted even a 400w in that room will overheat it without at least a 300CFM exhaust fan on a cool tube. Portable Ac in a room that small will use up a lot of the available space but could possibly keep it managable. But not exhausting the room brings up issues of humidity and CO2 depletion.
