so i went to wally world today and picked up a 42w(150 Equiv) i believe its 6500k but who knows i couldn't find it anywhere on the box...its big ha....

also after reading some other threads i think im going to switch to 24/0 light cycle to speed up growth....this sound like a good plan to anyone?

i had mine on 24 hours and seemed to work out great, but i've read a lot since and i've heard people say plants always need some dark periods for growth , also that the difference between 24/0 and 18/6 is not that big as far as growing but can save money on electricity so why not turn em off...i think i may do like 20/4 on my next go round, just to be different, haha, but good luck.

Was it GE? And in a box rather than a plastic package?

It's for your flowering stage. It's a softwhite.

I could only tell that after reading the entire back and it says "Compared to a softwhite blah blah"

oh shit you're right....yes it was a GE and it does say something to the effect of "equiv of such a number of soft white" so fuck. i could return it...probably gonna do that. they don't have the big 6500k ones...not sure where to look other than walmart and lowes etc...

also...would it be a bad idea to switch to 24/0 for a short time? or would switching cycles back and forth be bad....

im thinking of flowering soon...plants are around 8 inches tall because i don't have much room. realistically how big will they be? i know there are many different variables. i have seen plants almost triple in size.

If youre going to flip to flowering then you may as well keep the 42w GE you got at walmart. Get a few more too.

And yes, double to trip in size during flower is correct!

Honestly I am not convinced that the spectrum makes that big of a difference. I have been vegging with a bulb that is much "redder" then I thought it was and my plants have been growing fine. The only reason I know is because tonight I picked up some true 6500K 27w bulbs for my new veg box and wow....they look blue compared to the 23w bulbs I had been using. But my plants still grew. Will they grow better/faster under the correct spectrum, sure they will. Can you veg and flower with the same bulb....no doubt....just wont be optimized.

My veg box/clone box now has 4x27w @6500K and 2x23w @ unknown K. I will say, stay away from the "Bright Effects" bulbs they sell at Lowes. I can not find the color spectrum of those bulbs anywhere. They look much "bluer" then my 42w 2700K bulbs but much redder then my 27w 6500K bulbs. For all I know they probably that light spectrum that is right in the area that plants don't absorb. I may box them up and return them because they suck.

Basement, what cfl light set-up are you using ?? I'm confused between all the different spiral bulbs and all the tube style bulbs, although the tube sttyles are still cfl's.

The soft white (2700K) generally come in green packaging. The daylight (6500K) generally come in blue packaging.

Lowes is like the king of lightbulbs, they have everything in there. I buy my bulbs at Wal-mart, nothing wrong with saving a few bucks. :bigjoint:
