65watt light and light fixture from home depot

so i've been watching specifically this section of this web side for a few months now trying to learn as much as possible before i start my first grow and start actually posting on here, i recently was in home depot pricing some lights and fixtures to get my grow started and i came across this

now its a 65watt 500watt equivalent
and comes whit most everything in to set it up, the one i saw in the store said it comes with a 5000k 65watt cfl which i believe would be just about perfect for the vegging stage.

to get to my point i was looking to see if anyone has used this and if it is any good, next i was looking to ask , it says that it is a hardwire would i need an electrician to install that or would that be something that pretty mechanically inclined person would be able to do by them self?

so far what im looking to do for my set up is i have a closet that is the length of my entire room, i am currently using about 2/3rds of and have a section that is about 6 feet tall about 3 feet deep and about 4 feet wide, i have a closet pole in it and it seems like it would be a nice place to hang the lights from but im not sure if i want to section it off or do a more stealth cabinet or tube style grow but i think this light looks like a pretty good start, i want to do an all organic grow and maybe start with some trainwreck because i can get some clones pretty easy at the moment and a buddy of mine said it'd be a pretty good strain to start out with. not quite sure on soil mixture that i want to use or what nutrients if any that i want to use im still researching that part.

any input would be greatly appreciated thank you

if i end up buying this light i will let you guy's and gal's know how it goes.

You would just have to wire it up to an extension cord and it will be good to go

how much u wanna grow? thats not even enough light to flower 1 plant. oh wow, 43 bucks? get the ones with a built in ballast for like $16 that can plug into a normal socket then just buy the portable clamp lights that come with their own reflector they are like 7 each and work great. .(i'll see what the full actual name is in a sec, gotta go find the packaging mine all came in.) . i think you need a mogul socket for the light u showed.which is both more of a pain and if your going to use something w/a mogul socket you should just get a 150w-400w hps or a switchable ballast designed to use both metal halide and hps bulbs. they also make some bulbs that can work in either ballast itself. can be used in either a hps or mh ballast

yah thats good but you paid too much... see you have to buy their bulbs since the ballast is built into the housing that the reflector essentially is, speaking as, it is a whole

Check that light out man, it is going to put out more heat than the one you listed but will give you much better growth/ yield

well tom_420 that looks like a great deal. i may end up changing my mind on this one. luckily heat shouldn't be too much of an issue the side of my closet that im going to use i can run some ducting in from a window that it pretty close

heres a pic of one and some info, i use the exact same models myself., they only sell in multiples of 12 though on that site and they are cheaper at lowes/home depot/fleetfarm/walmart/etc so i dont recommend ordering them from that site, i just wanted to give u a basic idea of how they look and what to look for and the name so it'll be easier to find em for ya. good luck. maybe get like 6 26w(bigger if possible) 2700k bulbs and 3 y splitter and use them for side lighting.

oh i see ha i have a few of those actually just lying around, i was thinking of going with at least some 42w's

Telling anyone to buy outdated technology (e.g. HPS or MH tech) is stupid. Period.

CMH is about the same price and produces far better results without having to switch bulbs, thus making it effectively cheaper.

I used those to veg with for a while,worked great but it has some heat to it.....peace

what are your thoughts tom? if they are so much better why arent we all using them? ive never even heard of em b4 but you seem more knowledgable on hid than me. whats your verdict?

I haven't really heard that much about them, only that they run cooler right?

His grow turned out real nice but I think I would stick to the high pressure sodium for flowering
