This is my first grow, so the CFLs work for me. I'm at 1000 watts eqivalents using 6 bulbs. So the question was what is the different between my 1000 watts eqivalents and the HID 1000 watts other than the cost and heat production?

The difference is the cfls can grow one plant nicely while my 1k hps can grow a crop with no issues. Cfls grow smaller, less dense buds. It's harder to grow a plant with nice size using cfl. There are some good cfl grows but those same grows would double in harvest if an hid is put in place of the cfls. I began with a 1k hid and wouldn't put 100 cfls in its place. My lowest buds are dense and coated with resin only half way thru flowering

CFL or HID its a matter of preference and whatever works best based on conditions of your grow.
Plant looks healthy good start mate. :peace:

ok my flowering plant is about 30 inches tall and i thinking it will hit around. for flowering with 278 actual watts 1000 eqivalent = 16,000 lumens. Vegging is 378 actual watts 1200 watts eqivalent = 52,000 lumens. I may be doing the math wrong. I have 11 plants vegging.

Thanks! Cheers! My grow boxes can't accommodate the heat generated by HIDs. And yes I'm happy with my plants so far especially with this being my first grow.

You can use the Veg lights for flower as well with the flower lights.

More light = More Bud!!
I was thinking of adding my extra 6500k lights to the flower. But I have to leave my main 6500k lights for my plants in veg, Ok so I read that you use 2700K for flowering and 6500K for vegging.

Correct. But alot of people use a 2:1 ratio in flower. Meaning for every two Red spectrums they use one blue.

Unless you still have plants in veg and you don't flower them all at once...

Yes, I have 12 in veg. But I have extra lights that I'm going add to flowering to mix up the spectrum. I just end picked up six northern white ape clones. Got them isolated.

You will need a bigger light eventually.
Craigslist has sweet deals all the time.Gardeners that quit, etc...
or whatever. Jmo.
Unless you want to keep your plants really, really small.

i dont think lumens stack like that. the only way it you can add it up like that is if you had all your bulbs as a spot light and all lighting in the same spot(like 5 flashlights spots all pointed in the same spot). otherwise it would be like 2400 lumens from x amount of light sources(just an example, i dont know your bulbs exact lumens). of course in a fixture set up like you have you will get overlapping areas of light but it would be hard to calculate the exact numbers without a meter.

cool grow though and good luck with the progress.
