7 Weeks flowering, fan leaves dying

This is my first grow and I am a little concerned that the fan leaves are dying. I haven't had any issues up to this point. Over the last few weeks I've noticed some fan leaves near the base of the plant were dying and I removed them. Now, over the last week or so I have noticed the fan leaves sticking out of the colas are dying as well. Overall the plant seems healthy, and the buds are looking nice. Should I been concerned? Here is what I have: 32x32x60 grow tent, 400 watt Hps - Cool tube, 100w led, 2ft T5's, 6" Charcoal canister, 334cu/ft min exhaust. I am using FF Ocean Forest soil, and FF Nutes(trio). PH is 5.5-6, temps are 72f/78f. I water about every other day and feed lightly once a week. These are from bagseed.

you got a beautiful plant! My advice..On the first pic all your fan leaves seems to curl down which most probably could be because of overwatering. You say you water every other day, of course it depends on how much you water each time (which I don't know) but at the very beginning of the flowering process the plants tend to suck out much water. But after 5 weeks into the flowering process they wont need as much water as they needed at the beginning. Maybe you should water less? I was told that leaves can turn yellow because of a regular over watering, even if the plants keep growing.

Now on the other hand, your 2nd an 3rd pictures seem to show a bit of a nutrient burn. I'm not sure about that because I haven't used nutrients yet, but if you check anybody on this forum that once had a nutrient burn, the leaves look quite the same. But some leaves look like they just got a bit less sun or light. The question is if you cut some of these leaves of from the bottom? Mine look a lot like yours. Hope anything I said made sence, good luck :)

Fan leaves dying at 7 weeks ain't a big deal but your leaves on the cola are cupped bad. It looks like over feed or over water to me but I'm not an expert. Also nutes could be locked out due to an imbalance. What kinda water do you use?

See the leaves on the cola of my avatar (trainwrek) at about 8 weeks? Nice and straight, no cupping.

Thanks for the replies...I water 16-20 ounces every two days because the soil seems very dry. I use filtered tap water and let it sit our for 24 hours, the Ph usually is dead on without adjustment

I agree with moldy in that dieing fan leaves aren't an issue. Late in your grow fan leaves give up their sugars for flower and seed production. You have clawed leaves. Not a lot. This sometimes comes from too much nitrogen. Claw will make your plant finish later, it will discourage trichome production and influence overall taste. It takes clawed plants longer to cure and the overall finished product is substandard.

Thanks for the advice. checked her today and it now seems a bunch of the lower fan leaves are drooping bad, is this normal and should I snip these off? flowering still seems fine, each day I notice more and more crystals :). I think ill hold off on nutes for a week or two and wait a few days to water and try and flush her.

Things aren't looking good. Almost all fan leaves are drooping now. What's happening? The soil is dry but the leaves "seem" moist. She need a drink?

I believe I was over-fertilizing, I was feeding with the ff trio every other feeding. My 2 Sativas (week 4 flower) are starting to get yellowing fan leaves near the bottom and the Indica(week 8 flower) isn't doing any better. I flushed all of them real good today. Hopefully over the next few days they will improve. As of right now I am removing bad leaves and will feed lightly with Tiger bloom(2tbsp/gal) and big bloom(4tbsp/gal) in a few days.

The fading of the leaves of the upper plant, including the colas, is normal -- that's one of the signs the plant is a few weeks from finishing. But that's just the fading. The cupping and drooping of all the leaves isn't normal, as I think you've figured out. I don't do soil, so I can't help out except to say that the fading at 7 weeks is okay. Good luck with the rest of it!

One other thing -- I don't know Tiger bloom, but 4 T per gallon sounds like a lot of nutes. Full strength for Advanced Nutrients is 4 TEASPOONS per gallon. And I feed at 1/3 strength nutes and do fine.

Just maybe double check the feeding amounts???

I meant Teaspoon not tbsp. but regardless I was feeding at max recommended strength. Nute lock makes the most sense

Going through the same thing

Yes water...fertilizer no. And if your soil doesn't need water and your girl looks like that; you may want to be sure you've been feeding correctly. Good luck.

and tap water...

You have the same problems i get when growing out bagseed genomes; sodium NA+ build-up. Seems to me you use the same soil and techniques w/tap water as anyone else would but you did one thing wrong throughout that plants life, you didn't thoroughly flush the soil when watering and sediments built up at the bottom of your pot. Calcium and phosphorus had a big factor in things too as you said you claimed FF Trio use on scheduled intervals.
man, you almost had it if you would have used RO water but i can't stand here and say this or that as I use tap myself.
next time have several weeks of plain RO water to get those sodium and possible cholrine levels in check.

I always scale down my nutes later in the flower stage. My plants always seem to draw up less water as they age. I find I start at about 50% strength, and end around that. I don’t have a magic formula or chart, some weeks I bump it up/down depending on what they ask me for. Late fade is ok. You’ll just have to learn through experience what’s fade and what’s lockout.

Completely off topic but have you thought about smart pots.I Also noticed you did little to no training.Looks like there's a lot of humidity on the lower part of the plant. If your not gonna scrog you should look into monster cropping.

I only feed at 3/4 or 1/2 The recommended Fox Farm is 2 to 3 tsp per gallon. I go with 2 for example. If your soil is good you don't need to feed very often. Try 2 weeks between feedings to be sure of the result.
Diagnosing is extremely important also. That my fellow grower is the real challenge for most.
Next grow do everything you can to tune your growing media, soil mix.
I learned this the hard way and had to transplant a few early on.
