70 HPS VS 175 MH For Flowering One Plant

Just wondering what would be better for flowering ONE plant that takes up ONE square foot of canapy.

175 watt MH or 70 watt hps ???

lights are exact same size.. same size bulb same size hood

Spectrum has more of an effect then you might think. Although an MH more then double the luminosity of the HPS may keep up. If you want to stay at that low a wattage I would suggest just sinking the money into a 150w HPS. They are not very pricey.

Holy bawls guys, I don't know the answer but at least I know the question;

He wants to know:

For his ONE big plant, should he have ONE 70w HPS,
or ONE 175w MH.

Geez.

Is your plant flowering yet?

I'd DEFINATELY say veg it under the MH.
But for flower it's a tough choice.

Does anybody know if mixing the 175MH + like 30w-50w of 2700k CFL light would work?

The HPS will produce tighter larger flowers as it has the correct spectrum for flowering plants. The MH even though larger wattage, is not the correct spectrum for a flowering plant so i would bet the HPS would win for flowering.

ok cool guys.. I have them hooked up right beside each other... I might take the bulb and ballast out of the 70 hps, and put it in the 175 MH.. il take a pic of my closet ina bit..

just keep both in there if u can i would say..Besides there always saying both specturms is a good thing..both is my answer and u would have 225w and porlly get 2 zips insteap of 20-30 grams JMO
