70 watt ballast 150 bulb

simple question. can i use a 150 watt hps bulb in a 70 watt hps ballast saftly? i know it will work and light up but could i use it for side lighting like that?

not really lol but its also not that high of watts and not that big of a difference. ive read b4 that you can use a higher watt bulb on a lower watt ballast it just would put out the same lumen and mite ware your ballast faster. just wondering if anyone has done a higher watt bulb on a lower watt ballast.

I did it with cfls, and was safe for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks i had no more use with it, however electricity is pretty crazy with its ability to produce fires. I's be careful, if you do it make sure to eliminate anything that catches on fire easily

I just wouldn't do it man, not worth the risk of burning your house down lol.

Probably not such a good idea, man. You might burn out your ballast, or worse.
