Won't get too hot. Might need more light unless you're only growing one or two plants. All depends on how big you want them. more light = more weight but you could get a few nugs with that for sure.

I personally use a 70w MH bulb to veg with and a 150W HPS bulb for flowering. I typically only grow 2-3 plants a time in a 4x4x6 area and these lights have been perfect for my needs.

thanks for the help guys, yeah im defenitely putting in bigger lights they are just sprouts like 2 weeks old or less and im getting them nice and bushy then ill extend the height some more.... once i get some more cash

would you mind explaining exactly why you are considering a seven inch plant a "little sprout"? now i wouldnt consider seven inches a large plant by any means but at seven inches i was calling my plants mini bushes. if your plant is seven inches tall and still a sprout i think you need much more than a 70W MH light. either way i think for the price of the 70w MH you could get yourself quite a few cfl's which would do better than that small of a MH light

I've gotten decent results with one plant under 70 watts and that is usually what I stick to but it sounds like you have it worked out with the 70/150 setup.

If you are going to go small with 2 or 3 plants, I wouldn't veg more than 2 under the 70, this sounds like a setup you can build a foundation with.

Nah a foundation is 4000w Dual Spectrum HPS on light movers in the flower room... and a thousand watt MH for your veg. :D This will definitely provide good results though... and leave you very satisfied you went through with it.

Right now I'm vegging with cfls for 2 plants, but am gonna change that over to a 150W HPS on Monday. I plan to use that for rest of veg on 18/6 and then use it 12/12 for flower. This should work, huh?

If you are only burning two CFL's I'd go ahead and leave them on with the 150 HPS, usually I just use flourescent for the whole veg period but the choice is yours and there is more than one way to grow a plant.

A 150 HPS is plenty enough for two plants depending on the size of your area. What dimensions are we talking about here?
