Maybe where you are, we get fleeced on everything in Canada. I bought all my shit at a plumbing wholesale on a friend’s account so I could get his discount, and 2” bulkheads were still $35. I bought the beefy ones though similar to these

$8.77CDN. Free Shipping too
Those Banjo brand ones are definitely reliable tho.

So is their a union you can use with these pvc systems?Or is it a permanent thing? I assume it needs to be cut apart to remove from a room that hold the res outside.

If I ever rebuild my veg system with bigger buckets I am definitely going to take a closer look at the shower drains.

I really need to get some pics of the system I'm helping my friend build.
We are using those silicone couplers to make his system modular.

Seems like no one has actually addressed your question.. In buckets, it's way to many plants.. Three, low cost, Diy scroged waterfarms would be my choice.. Canada has an upside this time of the year for dwc. You won't have much of a problem keeping the water temps down.. There may be a problem among WFers on how to best modify one.. That'll be up to you, as to what would best suit you.. I lean much more toward, simplicity, low cost, and less water... Since riu will let me link..

I knew I stole someone's idea of shower drains, but I couldn't remember who. I did shower drains in the bottom of 5 gallon buckets which worked out great. Like you say, its really easy to completely change all the water in the system. .Lots of surface area to seal to my buckets with aquarium silicone as well. They are also a lot cheaper than 2" bulkheads, I got mine for $14 each at a plumbing wholesale while 2" bulkheads were $35-40 each. The only downside is that you need to raise the buckets to get the drain and associated piping underneath. I raised mine about 7" (2- 2x4s stacked on edge).
yep, i put 4 cinder blocks under each of my 27 gal totes. gave just enough clearance for the drain and the elbows.

so i believe i'll be taking my 20% commission from you. i only take bitcoin though. lol.
