If there is any way you can step up to a 400-watt HID ... do it .. and if possible one with a digital ballast so you can burn both MH and HPS bulbs. If you can't go up to a 400-watt HID go with the 250-watt HID over the 150-watt. A 250-watt HID only has about 18 inches of light penetration, I do not recall what a 150-watt's penetration is, so you will not have a lot of light penetration going for you and you will have to keep your plants short or else end up with less than you hoped for.thanks man i read that before this thread im switching from cfl to hid just the small watters like 150s to 250s because i want more pot lol
like it says on the qoute "8 26w bulbs (208 watts total) you'd be getting 13,600 lumens" and a 150w hps put out about 16000 lumens and a 250 even more and of course you have to spend the money on the equipment too but i know you already know all of this info but this cat thinks with 9h of research he will be rollin in bud i spent weeks months years even before starting a seed and shit at 18 i can grow better pot than all the dealers that i know that sell crappier shit for like 25 bucks a g
If you grew tall plants with a 250-watt HID roughly the upper third of the plant(s) would be pretty good. You could get a very respectable cola and the buds just below would still be pretty decent. Not massive and super dense, but still respectable. The middle third of the plant(s) would have smaller less dense buds and depending on how tall you might grow, the lower third would have at best a combination of tiny buds and pure popcorn, to at worst, died out foliage and branches due to inadequate light penetration.
If you go with a 250-watt HID, or less, you cannot veg to much of a height before switching to flowering because your plants will soon outgrow your lighting capabilities when the flowering growth spurt hits.
