800 watt bridgelux outdoor floodlights grow

Nah, white is more of a stopgap than a noob trap IMO. Monos performance is just not there yet and whites really help in providing marijuana with an efficient light source, (with the bonus of some "broadness" to the light source), which MMJ loves. So in a way white LED growing is akin to HPS growing, though I think of phosphor based white LED growing as super high performance CFL growing. And NASA is a bad example since they make decisions based on other factors than a home grower would. They gotta conserve energy and there is stuff like weight and I'm sure a hundred other things which I don't have a clue about. I may be spaced out but I'm no space man :eyesmoke:!

The problems with whites is too many people just assume the white they got is made with a tech that will grow plants efficiently. Whites need to be chosen correctly, otherwise you are pissing away lumens like you said. Some whites are just better than others.

Personally I like both, but like using less white in flowering than others like to. And that's the thing. It's personal preference. There is no right and wrong way like some tool-bags on this site like to say. Lotsa grey if ya know what I mean.

Peace AA
Well said !

Don't know how I missed this thread

I seriously considered high bays, but lacked the balls to pull the trigger

Well that, and I did not find the spectrum blends I wanted

However, I have grown with a bunch of 4ft T8 leds and a 1 x 4 troffer panel (all now being used elsewhere in the house)

So good on you for thinking outside the 'grow light' box

Petflora- The store I work at will be selling these if the numbers are good. Shipping on single units or anything Fedexed will add 25% or more to the cost. Otherwise you have to have them shipped on a cargoship. Long wait. Small orders, to them, can be from 10 to 100 units. The 500w dimmable unit will be under $1000 with a different hood. I just noticed you are confusing high bay lighting with stadium lighting. High bay lighting maxes out at around 200w, but the stadium lights I can have made up to 500w. Similar looking, but the heatsink is massive on the stadium light. I still haven't gotten a par meter, but my cheap light meter shows 1000@16" for the 200w light and the stadium light shows 1000@30".

Thanks

I am aware of both types

I am partners in LED RetroFIT Technologies- commercial applications

You referenced 1000 twice. 1000 what?

Day 59- The temps. have been stayed in the high 90* outside and in still. I hope this isn't slowing growth to bad. Everything else has been doing fine. I did raise the net on one tray. The lower buds on the plant are nice and dense.
Both plants under the newer light have finally recovered. Had to pinch the AO to slow the stretch.

The newest ones will be moved after the SourD is done. I am going to net each one vertically in each tray, with the 2 200w lights vertical at each tray. I still don't have what I want to run under the 500w light.

I thought I would do an update/ overview of my run. I started looking around for a COB style light that could compare to a grow light with quality parts and the spectrums I wanted. I also wanted as many watts as I could find. I ended up having these lights made to my likes.

I didn't have the room to use a 4'x4' tray, so I have 2 2'x4' trays. I have 5 SourDs in each tray. I am testing these against a room full of 1000w bulbs. Since my 10 are the runts that he didn't want in his room, I am already at a disadvantage. The tallest one I got from him was 16" and the shortest one he kept was over 16". He also is running 12 per tray. I have not been to his house to see the progress of his room yet, but mine has been doing great. Even with the room hitting the high 80*s for the last couple of weeks.

I did stay simple with my feeding. I went with Cutting Edge 3-part using a 40g. res. I have added some boosters but never more than half strength. In less than 2 weeks, the talls one's were over 40".

And now with 10 to 21 days left.

Update- Around day 45 the temps sky rocketed and that is when things started to go south. I couldn't afford AC and the temps had been in the high 80* for the last 4 to 5 weeks of flowering. The res. has also been in the high 70*s. One tray I ran for a week longer and hung it tonight. The total for the one tray was 205 grams, plus a joint or 2. Out of the first 5, one was 68 grams and the second tray is looking better. To tired for pics, I have only had 2 days off in the last 3 weeks. Not much time for my own things. The other 2 will now be a opposite ends of a 2x4 tray on wheels, with 4' tall trellis on 3 sides. They are so big (4' tall on a foot of rockwool) they are falling over.

Final update- The total for 800 watts was a little over 1 pound. With the room topping 90* and fighting powder mold and mites. No more temp. issues. I finally go a 12000 btu Mini split. The unit has quick connects and is 110 volt. I watched it on high with the amp meter. Highest it hit was 8 amps. The room is now 75* and the exhaust only comes on with humidity.
