I had been debating whether to document this grow after such a long absence online, but after searching for other slow release organic grows of this scale I have been inspired to share my experiences! I plan to keep this thread casual enough that I may get to updating once a wk or?...
I recently completed building out a space to run 8x 1000w hps lights, a nearly year long endeavor in the making. I have 6k running four plants per light of bubblegum and flo in 10 gal smart pots, and 2k running 8-10 og kush per light in 5 gal smart pots.
There is a 10in max fan pulling through a can 150 scrubber recirculating within the room. All hoods are daystar a/c with 4 powerhouse ballasts and 4 phantom digi ballasts. There are 2x 8in ho can fans exhausting the lights through rigid duct with an inline ozonator near outside exhaust. The intake damper, inline fans and ozone are all controlled via photoperiod sensor.
A dual stage sediment and uv water filter is plumbed to my 32 gal brute rez controlled via float valve; using a submersible pump, hose, and water wand to water every other day.
A sentinel chhc4 controlls my co2 (50lb tank refilled bout once a wk or so), and humidity ( too small dehui set to 40% keeps it around 55%). Lastly my 18,000 a/c keeps daytime temps a cool 74-78f.
Now a word on this whole "organic" style of growing. I live in a medical state where mmj patients have access to a broad spectrum of medicine through a variety of wellness centers and caregivers, for now. A large portion of Colorado commercial warehouses (20-50+ lights) continue to follow the California model of using carcinogenic materials in production of medicine strictly for profits. The most recent federal presence in CA is a harbinger for CO if we as patients continue to give up our rights allowing these facilities to grow cancer causing poison on our behalf.
That said here's my soil mix:
4 cu ft sunshine #4 (organic)
1.5 cu ft Roots Organics soil
1.5 cup DTE blood meal
1.5 cup DTE fish bone meal
1.5 cup sparetime organics kelp meal
1.5 cup sparetime organics trace minerals
3 cups DTE neem seed meal
1 cup soil sweetener dolomite lime
4 cups plant success granular
Once mixed this fills 4 x 10gal smart pots with little to spare, or fills 8-10 x 5 gal smartpots. Basically enough dirt for one light so this recipe x 8 is a lots of fun with dirt.
Plants went from overgrown 2gal under 2x 600w transplanted into 5 an 10 gal under alternating 4k until acclimated, about one wk then flipped 12/12.
They had been giving a humboldt roots and earth nectar/earth ambrosia dosing at transplant and 1wk following. Now they are currently day 23 with bud sites everywhere.
I will snap some pics next time I water.
I will show gratitude to those interested by answering any and all questions within a reasonable allotment of time. Thanks!
