Hey, how many of you guys have made the pilgrimage to 9 Mile??? 2 years ago in December the wife and a bunch of friends drug me off to Jamaica for a week. What a mixture of good and bad. Because of the poverty, every single person there wants to sell you something or has an angle to get your cash. They just bug the shit out of you. Drives you nuts. Also the wife is one of those sensitive caring types. She spent days crying about the poor islanders, until I finally convinced her she couldn't buy something from every one of them. What a hassle. However....you couldn't get near a beach without being mobbed by dealers wanting to sell you weed and hash...Hmmm, this might not turn out too bad. Since I was only gonna be there a week, I quickly tried and bought a 1/2 of Jamaican sativa for $30 bucks and 2 grams of hash for $15 each. Of course my first action was to hit the poor people at the market and buy a pipe. NO ONE bothers you at all about the weed. People in the beach chairs toking and it was even stinky in the in the hotel hallways. Anyway...I ramble. One day we chose to take a tour van up to 9 Mile (Bob Marley's home and the site of his final resting place). It was a very interesting drive into the mountains of Jamaica (one lane roads). Upon arrival, you are immediately greeted by dealers in the parking lot. Everyone had rolled joints the size of big blunts for ten bucks. A very interesting day. Marleys crypt is also there and it was pretty moving for a stoner. Also his little shack he lived in and wrote music in. I was never a huge raeggae(SP) fan, but I now listem to BoB quite a bit. I love Redemption Song, Buffalo Soldier, No woman..no cry, and lots of others. All thing considered, it is a cool place for weed smokers. We stayed in Ocho Rios at "Rooms on the Beach". It was not all inclusive, but not to bad, at a great price. We only spent $1500.00 for the week, including the air fare and hotel. Travel agents always have good packages, and if you go in a group, you get good deals on the travel and also on side trips on the island......Ya Mon....No problem. Anyone else made the trip????
