no and no, though with cobs the emitters are more concentrated so thermal management is more of a considerationDo cobs require active cooling?
Do cobs run hotter then strips?
Where did the 730µmols figure in the title of the thread come from? It actually sounds kind of accurate for a PPF considering the tech used and spectrum. And I didn't see that specifically on a PPFD chart from their site.
730µmols÷418w=1.7µmols/w...for a red/blue dominate panel of it's price category.
Having run both you prefer the strips....thanks ANCGo strips mate, I have done both. Also, the strips aren't a massive fire hazard like a COB.
Thanks for the knowledge man!no and no, though with cobs the emitters are more concentrated so thermal management is more of a consideration
Haha a mighty important considerationIf your COBS fall face down on the floor it will set whatever is under it on fire.... make sure they are very securely hung.
Nice whats the strip set up lookin like?
Welcome to the world of LEDs, where advertised wattages are a lie to sucker people in that are inexperienced with LED lighting. These are standard LED practices.VIPARSPECTRA Reflector-Series 900W LED Grow Light Full Spectrum for Indoor Plants Veg and Flower
Does the 418 “true watt” number mean the light is literally equivalent to a 418 watt HID? Or somewhere in between the 418 and 900? Or should I pay more attention to the Par value and lumens?
Take a lux/par meter and measure 3 feet from those lights, i bet the levels are unusable.View attachment 4120850 It is still a micro grow now, was a test of the new strips.
Here I was transitioning in veg from Cob to strips.
Because i want to grow a plant larger than 3 feet? How do you grow sativas or tall OGs with that? Only top buds get density the rest is popcorn? those look like side lighting to me.Why would you use a strip with 115 degrees beam from 3 feet?
What about under that, straight popcorn/larf? to me the light levels look really weak, there's dark areas everywhere in your picture and the intensity looks wack.My colas are just under eye level, I can bite them.
See that wouldn't work for the majority of legal growers that have plants that are large, your whole grow might yield like one plant to a good legal grower with 8-10 foot ceilings. That is the best my shitty entry level phone camera can do.
I totally lollypoped everything off the bottom. All the flowers are getting sufficient light.
Although I did manage to get the branches to sag when I messed with its support earlier.
I will fix it up tomorrow. once I had a chance to pick up some chicken wire.
I would grow in the way demonstarted with the COB picture, those plants are maybe 3' tall at the tips, all one solid even canopy.
The current grow was a bit of an abomination as I went on my own with my grow. It went from over 130 clones to me keeping 2 plants and getting my own lights to start from scratch but with my own equipment.
