900gr/m2???

Just wondering whats up with all the advertisements stating certain strains can produce yields of 800-900-1000 grams per meter squared indoors? From what I have read here that shit is next to IMPOSSIBLE! I understand that that would be ideal conditions but cmon...900 grams in only 1m squared..WTF?

It's exactly what you said, advertising. That being said, 1 m./sq. is a little over 9 sq. ft. If you did a sog grow with 4 plants per sq. ft., 1,000g. would be about 27g. per plant which under absolute perfect conditions might be possible.

Green House White Rhino and Great White Shark to name a couple. I'm sure there's more out there.
IMO this says it all. Greenhouse seeds!

I can achieve 400g from a 1x1 with 400w. My last harvest was 439g.

I just can't see those numbers being doable from any strain especially a GHS strain.

Over hype and marketing is the game. I heard this about greenhouse seeds before. I mean you could probably get a good number if you had perfect condition with a hydro setup and 1000 watt light.

not possible IMO...6''x6" is not enough room for 30g a plant...What strain is claiming this??
I disagree. Certainly most strains will not be suitable for a good yield in a 6x6 footprint, there are quite a few out there which grow great big donkey dicks. Train em right and use the right lighting and such, and an ounce of a big fat cola shouldn't be deemed impossible.

I don't know if those were the strains ShazMo09 was referring to, I just pulled those off Herbies biggest yield section as examples.

Nah you are spot on mate. I was looking around Herbies site and was checking out Cup Winners and noticed -
[h=2]Green House White Rhino Feminised Seeds[/h][h=2]Green House Super Lemon Haze Feminised Seeds[/h][h=2]Green House Great White Shark Feminised Seeds[/h]All over 850g per m2...
And you guys are right, they are GreenHouse seeds but when I looked a little deeper and looked at more breeders there are plenty that are claiming HUGE yields...

Everything on Herbies, in the descriptions that claim those yields, are all grown with a 600 watt light.

Your talkin bout 36 plants in that area getting EVEN light coverage even nute uptake and even production......I am running a 1k in a 2.5'x2.5' for shits right now and would be happy to get half of what they are proposing with ANY strain! Guess I shouldnt say it CANT be done since I havent tried it, just doubtful till I see it with my own eyes!-S0uP

Yes, i'm talking about someone who knows his beans and has his grow setup perfectly. Is that not how all advertising works, if we are working on the premise that the advert is accurate in that 1 in a 1000 scenario. Just as a car company will advertise a 0-60mph time as a selling point, but most people should be fully aware that without lots of experience, actually hitting that advertised time is not very viable straight off the bat until you understand what revs you want to be changing at, what revs to be at when you leave the line, how fast to raise the clutch etc.

Also, with regard to even uptake and such, it could be swings and roundabouts, doesn't have to be even. Some plants could only yield you 20 grams, others could yield 40 grams. Just saying that an ounce in a 6" square footprint is not by any means impossible. It is reproducing that kind of result across every strain that will require the experience.

Also worth baring in mind though, that the advertised 900g/m square is not saying that buy a light and a meter square tent and you will get this, they could have a room with 9 1kw lights, and right in the middle of the room where it's like the sun itself, they could find that number, despite on the outer edges of the room, that figure dropping.

Well said, I believe that some of the advertised numbers are based on outdoor season numbers. No indoor environment can really compete with that kinda production no matter how perfect it seems. I might run some lemon haze from green house in the near future....think Ill get my money back if I dont hit the 1000g mark? ;)

i know a few folks that average around 2.2lbs per 1k on something similar to dj shorts bb. no joke, no bs. if you do it right its easy.

yea i dont think its impossible, remember, 1m cubed (not squared) is 3x3x3, and im guessing they are doing heavy topping/fimming/LST; and they probably run a few 1000w lamps. id also imagine they arent counting the empty space either, that is taken up by the plant, pot, etc...

sneaky lil bastards, but yea, either way, id divide by 2 if your lacking experience, and divide by 2 again if your poor (sadly, that does make a difference)

Where did you see 1 m. cubed? All the strains I see advertized say 1 m. sq.

Is this the best/recommended way to maximize yield? SOG grow, 4 plants/ft2? Assuming no topping, single cola? vegging for how long?

I have wondered what is the best way to maximize yield, such as SOG vs SCROG vs one big plant vs a number of smaller plants, etc.
I understand that certain methods are going to work better with certain strains, and there are other variables (e.g, nutes, medium).
I am scrogging now, and curious whether a sog grow might yield more.
