95% of pistils are brown, harvest time?

light is the problem after harvest , thc degrades due to light , amber ball jars help alot when cure is taking place.
I know there’s environmental factors that effect the degradation, but I was informed you want to harvest when most trichomes are milky. You use the amber trichomes on the calyx as an indicator that it’s deteriorating just due to time. after I harvest I dry, and cure my plants in the dark.

I guess you are checking trichs on leaves and then flushing out of spite

I would wait til the pistils receded and the plant was ripe but
carry on :neutral:
The pistils are falling off and scarce. She was fed pretty often, I don’t do one day flushes. I’m anticipating another 10 days before chopping. If her lower half is losing color I’m pretty sure that means I’m at the stage where roots don’t uptake as much, which would mean she’s pretty far along the timeline.

And who told you this?
Cause you a being fed manure
I haven’t seen but one plant over ripe in my lifetime and it was dead and dried in the pot

I appreciate the honesty. I believe it was a royal queen seeds article about harvest time. Generally I take word from good sources. I’m not being inpatient with the harvest, I was just confused because 1/3 plants had 100% pistils brown while the other 2 had time to go. I don’t mind harvesting a little late as long as it doesn’t mean my 20% THC bud will become 10% in a week.

@Star Dog @Herb & Suds

it’s hard for me to get trichome pictures of good quality because I have unsteady hands but this is her day 100. You can see the pistils emerging, so I’m fairly certain this is a picture of a calyx. She seems to have quite a few amber trichomes now. I think I’m safe to chop on friday.

You’re good on that front bongsmilie

Anytime in the next two weeks
The pistils have retracted and the trichomes are looking ready. I’m cutting off all nutes and harvesting Friday. She’ll be 110 days old by then.

Day 111, 76 of flowering. I think she’s ready, she’s yellowing like I expected to see now, the pistils receded about 5 days ago. I’m going to use her sugar leaves for concentrates so I don’t want them too brittle by harvest. Her trichomes also have the amber tone Iwas looking for, on the calyx. I’m giving her sister another week, but I think it’s safe to chop her now.

Yes I’d like to hear how things turned out. Would love to see a pic of a big dried manicured nugget…..you showed a lot of patience and kept those plants healthy and happy until the end.
One last ?….how’s the smell with that strain? I may try it.
