95f with easy hood

i have a 1000watter in an easycool hood ducted to a 424cfm fan. However i cant get temps below 95. Ive tried pulling air through and pushing it through, either way im pushing 100f. I even opened a window and still 95f. I have just one side ducted, but this shouldnt make a difference afterall esp when pulling air out. Also my bulb is resting on the glass at the end. I couldnt get it to lock in in any way.

get a bigger fan and put it low to the ground because cool air stays low to the ground put ur exhaust fan the top of the cab so a nice breeze gets in there

I have a 400 watt hps and recently ducted it. It made a huge difference. It got my temps down from 85F to 77F. I used 4" flexible ducting. I drilled a 4" hole in the wall near the floor and a 4" hole in the wall near the ceiling. I installed a 6" duct booster ($39.95 @ Home Depot) that pushes 250 cfm. I ran the duct from the hole near the floor (fresh air from outside the grow room) to my light. Then I ran a duct from the light to the duct booster fan and then out the hole near the ceiling dumping into an adjacent room. It is a closed system so none of the odor form the room gets into the ducts. I also had to purchase reducers to place on both ends of the booster to go from 6" down to 4". I put the fan on a timer that runs from the time the light comes on until 1 hour after the light shuts off. I also installed a 70 cfm fan that brings in fresh air from outside the grow room through a 3" flexible duct. It is alot of ducting but it got my room perfect. I hope that helps.

SO where does it pull the air from if only one side is ducted?? the room that is 95 degrees, that oughta cool a light? I have a 1000 watt light closed system that pushes outside air thru about 20' of ducting with and extra 180 degree bend to stop light leaks, a 200cfm fan and I am not having a problem. I guess that pulling outside air instead of trying to use the room air to cool the light does make a difference. I don't suppose you have a carbon scrubber on that same line do you? VV

Yep VV asks the tough questions....but seriously you need to run that vent work properly and your room will drop 15 degrees.

i cant drill holes, so i leave my door open just enough to fit the ducting through. The fan moves air from the closet to the bedroom, or vice versa. Im going to try ducting both sides so air will go from the room through the hood and back into the room. Hopefully this will work

Are you pumping the hot air outside or just into the room? If you hook up a fan to a hood and pump in right into the room your just making a heater.....you need to duct the hot air outside or get an AC, those are your ONLY options other than smaller lights.

Yeah bro, you're just recirculating the heat; why even use an A/Ced hood at all? You gotta exhaust that heat outside of the growing environment.

hmmm well i cant drill holes in the closet, so would it be better for yield to have 1000w and 90f or 4000w and 77f? ive noticed lower buds which were to far from the 400 are flourishing under the 1000w even with temps hitting 100f

Its not gonna matter how big your buds are if they are crap. Either run the ducting out the window, build a box around the window, do something to blow the hot air out the window and you will be fine.

thats a good idea, but i live in a trailer park and my neihbor might think something is a lil fishy if they see a duct running to the window lol. I cant do any real construction because im living with the mum till january and she doesnt want holes drilled or anything like that or this would be so darn easy o well at least shes permitting it at all.

Only other option is an AC or smaller lights. Theres huge risk of getting severe mold and mildew at those high temps.

im now venting out the window, and temps have stayed at 94f! i have the ducting tightly fastened to the fan and both sides of the hood, but for some reason temps stay high. The fan is a 6" 424 cfm inline fan. Ive heard nothing but good things about this hood, but i gotta say it appears it cant handle 1000w.

After a full light cycle with the heat being pumped outside you should notice a difference. How hot is the rest of your place? If your room is an average of 90* without the light your not gonna get it much cooler with out AC or cold air intake.

Now that you do have the heat being pumped outside you should keep your bedroom door closed as much as possible, this will create a low pressure in the room and start bringing in much needed cool, fresh air from outside.

Also get some oscillating fans blowing under that light. If you get control of airflow with some well placed fans you can Easily reduce temps at least 5-10*

You can never get enough cheap fans, with a little experimenting you can greatly reduce temps just by getting air moving around a little more.
