9x Fast Buds Smoothie Grow.

Cillit bang here, back with a bang from my last grow. I did 5 Fast Buds Girl Scout Cookies last time and got a very healthy crop from that of 300 odd grams..this is despite making multiple fuck ups with feeding and PH. Lessons have been learnt and I promised I’d be back with a bang.. and I was so impressed with fast buds seeds last time I got another load.

I’ve got 9 Smoothie Autos. Smoothie is a cross between Blueberry X Somango. Mostly Indica.

I’ve increased the pot sizes. Last time I grew in 12L pots this time it’s 18L.

I’ve germinated the seeds. I got a pack of 10 and germinated all of them just incase 1 didn’t pop. All 10 did within 48 hours and I’ve picked the 9 best looking ones. The 10th I’ve just thrown away. Might be a waste but my plan was always 9 not 10.

Due to the fact I’m using a 600W HPS lamp, in summer, I’ve decided to go with a 18/6 light schedule as opposed to my previous 20/4 schedule. Between midday and 6pm the lights will be off and I figured this would be when the temps outside are hottest, and as it progresses into the evening and overnight it’ll cool down which should make growing with a HPS easier. Time will tell.

All 9 are now potted. Hoping to see seedlings shortly.

So all 9 have popped up. All doing and looking real good so far. Temps are around the 29C mark. Not overly concerned about this just yet. I have just given the plants a water to help them adjust to the higher temps and just to moisten things up a bit. PH of water is 6.5

Week 1 done. Update; it’s hot. I’ve literally decided what will be will be. I am powerless to control the heat. Tent is currently 33C. The plants don’t look like they’re suffering too much yet. Growth seems alright. I’m giving them a litre of water a day at the moment and they’re lapping it up. The plants are showing no signs of over watering, I’m simply over watering to overcompensate for the fact the grow tent is at a consistent 31-33C.

I cannot run AC it’s too expensive to get a unit in, too noisy, this isn’t an option.

My light schedule is 18/6, with darkness being between 12 midday and 6pm when I anticipate the heat will be at its most intense.

I have all my windows open and I’ve even managed to re position my grow tent so that the exhaust duct blows the air out of the room the tent is in. I have had the tent open during the mornings and early evenings as this lowers the temps slightly. I have rotating fans inside at canopy level blowing constantly over the plants. I also have additional fans at the top of the tent blowing additional hot air out of the tent which I’m leaving slightly open.

I’m just going to run with this and see what happens. The temps aren’t gonna go down, if anything they’ll get hotter so I’m going to just wing this grow and see what happens. If they suffer, they suffer. Genuinely won’t be a lot I can do unfortunately. :wall: Oh well. Here’s to growing with HPS lights in 25C summer heat!

Good luck. Im going to be running photos at 12/12 through the hottest days of summer but ive got AC. Its still going to cost a lot of electricity but im learning a lot about photos before i do a 1100w winter grow.

smart move doing the 12/12 through summer. I think winter grows are the best way forward as it’s easier to control the temperatures. Next year I’m going to just do a big grow in the winter and avoid growing through summer.

Yeah the only reason im doing a grow this summer is because I have so much time on my hands and I want to learn about photoperiod plants before I go all out with the 1000w. LED lights arent even on my radar because the heat that comes off HID lights is a good thing. They keep the tent the right temperature and any excess heat goes to heating the house.

Week 2 done. 14 days old. Looking fantastic. Nice branching and growth, healthy looking leaves. Just gave all 9 plants 2ml feed of grow nutrients. This will be enough for now, I’m learning from my previous experiences in not over feeding the plants.

Temps are still high, was consistently around the 31-33C mark for most of the week until some storms have cooled the air down a bit.

Few pics.

I've grown out a few smoothies before, they really don't like high temps in flower, they do best around 23c, I had temps rise for a few days on my last lot n they foxtailed like crazy, do you have an air cooled hood? If not it would be well worth considering, you would see a drop of around 5c (give or take)

I don’t have an air cooled hood, it’s something I’ve been looking at but I’ve found so far I can get the temps lower by just having the tent wide open all day long.

Obviously this method won’t work during flowering as i would need to control the smell by having the tent closed.

I hope they don’t foxtail. What was the final smoke like for you?

The ones that finished well were a nice enough smoke, very fruity, lots of colouring through the buds too, the fluffy foxtail plants still had the smell and taste but no bag appeal, I've grown a few fast buds strains now, west coast og and gsc are the 2 of there strains I would rate highest

Yeh I just did 5 GSC in my last grow.. but I messed up loads so didn’t get their full potential which is a shame. It was a combination of errors due to it being my first grow. I’d definitely grow GSC again, and will have to try the OG too.

What strains have you grown from them? I’m interested in some of their new strains for 2020 - Lemon Pie and Strawberry Pie (both heavy Indicas) look amazing! also their Cream Cookies, Purple Lemonade and BlackBerry.

Week 3 is done. Temps have dropped drastically due to stormy weather, which I’m liking, as the tent temps are now around the 26C mark.

They’ve had 3ml of grow this week. The rest of the time they’ve had just pure water.

I’m yet to notice any issues. All seems to be going well.

you’ve grown these before haven’t you? How do I do that then. I’m a complete noob.
I low stress trained mine but your way past the point to do that. Supercroping is where you pinch the stem and kind of soften it and then bend it over. If you just bend it, it will most likely snap. You have to pinch it pretty hard and soften it up then bend it over. This will force the plant to focus more energy to the branches and form a more even canopy; instead of one big top per plant almost every branch should be a nice size kola. If your scared, try it on just a few of them or just one and you will be able to compare finished results.

Final result looks something like this

What a difference a few days makes. Out of nowhere they stink.. signs of flowering now as we approach the 1 month mark. Temps are fine. My plan of growing at night has worked as it’s cool enough outside that the tent doesn’t get too hot.
