A 9 week strain, does that include ...

If one has a 9 week strain does the 9 weeks include a week of flushing, or does a week of flushing turn a 9 week strain into 10 weeks inclusive of the flushing ?

thanks :)

Every breeder will give the estimate on the approximate time it takes one of their particular strains to flower under optimal conditions. They many times get these numbers based on the phenos they grew out and flowered. Every plant will vary based on that particular plants genetics, the environment it is growing in and the stresses it receives. Many times from the person growing it. To know when your plant is at full ripeness use a 60-100 times magnifier and look at the trichomes on the bud. Look in many different areas from top to bottom to get a better idea. If all of your trichomes are clear I wouldn't worry about flushing just yet. Once you start to see trichomes turning milky you should begin a plan for flushing. This plan will be based on the ratio of milky to amber trichomes you prefer. Some will argue that milky trichomes give a uplifting high, while the amber gives a couch lock high. I myself tend to believe that Thc is the milky substance and amber is a degraded form of thc. I myself harvest as soon as I have majority milky and just a few amber, but that is my personal preference. @ half milky half clear I begin to flush, for soil it takes me around 2 weeks to get a good flush and I measure my runoff's electro connectivity and watch as it declines. In hydro it's much faster especially if you keep up with flushing your grow medium during your grow to eliminate salt build up. Some will argue that flushing your plant does nothing but take away from bud production. I disagree with that notion and from my personal experience can tell you that flushed bud will smell, taste and burn better. Main point is a 9 week strain is not a 9 week strain, it may take 8,9,10 or even 11 weeks to finish and the only way to tell is by checking your trich's. For example I just got done with Nirvanas AK-48, which according to Nirvana it's supposed to finish in 7 weeks or 48 days hence the name. Well at 10 weeks it was ready and got chopped.

9 weeks is a random number that the breeder has picked out of thin air.

The way the plant will develop will be dictated by its environment and all the myriad factors that contains. A strain that one person could have finished in 8 weeks may take someone else 12.

If I may ask a question for you, why are you flushing? Did you add too much nutes while growing?
Read this please:

The first thing you need to know is that there are 3 "states" in a trichomes development.

The first state is clear. Clear trichomes contain precursor cannabinoids (cannabinoids are the different substances in cannabis).
These precursor cannabinoids are not psychoactive (they do not produce a 'high') yet and harvesting clear trichomes will not give you a proper harvest.

The second state is cloudy/milky. Cloudy trichomes contain fully realized THC (the by far main contributing substance in any cannabis high).
You want to get as close to 100% cloudy trichomes @ harvest to get the most potency out of your plant. It's impossible to get 100% cloudy trichomes, since trichomes are always being produced and are always maturing, even after harvest the trichomes will continue to develop.

The third state is amber. Amber trichomes contain degraded THC --> CBN. CBN represents a loss of 90% potency (from THC).
CBN is not desirable in any harvest, since it not only represents a huge loss of potency but research into the substance has also shown that CBN does not produce a high like THC does, CBN produces a more sickly feeling not a true high.

Understanding the difference between clear - cloudy - amber trichomes is essential in getting a proper harvest with a peak potency.

Then read this:

https://www.rollitup.org/harvesting-curing/514841-perfect-cure-every-time.html

If you follow these easy guides, you will harvest at the perfect time, and you will no longer need to flush...
Unless you screwed up nutes...

Good Luck man...
Flush.... no no finish your bud correct...
I feed right up to the time I harvest....
No side effects, just perfect smooth super highness mj...
Which tastes better than anything I have ever tasted...
Again, Good Luck!
