a BIG question to all teh pros

ok, im getting a 400 watt MH light for free, my plan is too use it to make 2-3 mothers in a small space 6 feet tall x 3 feet wide x 2 feet deep, so 6 ft squared.

will this light be too powerful and create too much heat for the small space? or will it be fine. (i will have 2 fans, intake,extake w/carbon scrubber)

Depends what type of fans you're running. Use a cooltube if you can, it'll help keep temps a lot lower.

Given that, it will be fine.

I am assuming it will be a closed space, carbon filter and all. Like they said, depends on the fans. Plus, what is the air temp in the room you will be drawing from? Humidity? Type of plant, how tall is it going to get? Lots of factors, no in stone answer. But in my opinion, its pretty doable. Probaly will have to add a small clip-on fan to your arsenal. Gotta keep the air moiving across those tops.

I guess I should have read this better the first time, this almost sounds like my current 400W set up space wise, I'm currently 1.5'W x 4'D x 4'T , With 5 plants, average temps are around 78 during lights on, 68-70 with lights off.. I'm using 4 fans, 2 for air circulation, 1 cold air intake, and 1 exhaust fan attached to 6" ducting with inline booster hooked to a DIY Carbon filter.

Pretty sure I've got some pictures of my grow space in my journal, or picture album, If not I'll post some later today

you should be fine, but as a rule, and so you know how to do it, work out the cubic ft or metres of the room, then get a fan that can suck 20 times that amount in an hour

So, in your case 6 x 3 x 2 = 36 cubic feet
x 20 = 720 cubic feet

So, you need a fan that can move 720 cubic ft (or 20 cubic metres per hour)

Even the smallest fan will easily do that :peace:

Your 400 MH is perfect for that space and to grow mums :-)

Might be a bit tight for three tho, i've two in the same space

Non vented with built in ballast w/o the glass.

I'll take some better pictures of my set up tonight when the light turns on, the ones in my journal are from when I was just putting a veg room together much has changed since then. Right now I've got 1 fan blowing across the tops of the plants with an 6" ducting exhaust sitting kinda close to where the "heat" would be being blown I guess
