A damn tree fell on my plants

A damn tree fell on my two plants (two survivors of an earlier flood that killed ! Unbelievable. How much more can go wrong with this grow? Anyway, the tree hit one on the side. The tree tore one of the branches off and pressed the "trunk" of the plant over at a 40 degree angle or so. In this picture I have already moved the tree off of it as much as I could.

The tree was rotten, and it basically blew up with rotten dust and bark all over both my plants when it hit. So my plants were covered with this shit. They were sticky with resin (Afghans), so all the dust stuck to the plants.

Are my plants ruined? Am I going to be smoking rotten wood now? They started looking bad a few days after it happened. It has rained and hopefully washed most of the dust off I think (see last pic, close up of the top cola), but I just am not sure if the buds are ruined. I don't know if the yellowing is just normal for this stage in flowering, or if there is something I need to try to do.

Any advice?

The plants are about 5 weeks into flowering, and supposedly this strain flowers in 8-9 weeks. The trichomes are already cloudy, I think... it was hard to keep my 60-100x scope perfectly still and tell for sure. Any advice on that issue would be appreciated also.

Five weeks into flower your bottom leaves should be showing signs of yellow. In those pics, it appears to be yellowing up just one side. I am not the one to diagnose your problem but I can say that the yellowing is not consistant with "late stage flower".

As far as the scope...tear a small leaf off your plant and place it on the table. Place your scope over it...adjust the sharpness to suit your taste and veiw your lovely resin. I have 8 plants at different stages of flower and I love to look at the trichs as they each progress. Good luck!

seems like some bad luck to me look at the brightside the tree falling opens up more sunlight the plants are still alive

Maybe not pristine, but not ruined either. Sometimes the trichs look cloudy when they are first forming, but it's way too early for the progression from clear to cloudy. Look for the trichs to grow a nice stalk under the heads, plump up then turn cloudy. Should be somwhere around a month from now give or take a few days. I have an afghan outdoors and it's looking like end of September to finish off. Sorry to hear about your plants, I had one of my dogs tear a branch off mine the day after I tied it down. It fully recovered though and is doing fine

Yeah, I was thinking I had to look at the tricomes on the buds themselves, and at that level of magnification it was just impossible to keep the scope still enough standing up next to my plant. It should be a *lot* easier to just tear a bit of leaf off near the bud and set it down so I can stabilize the scope. I can't wait to do that, I really want to have a good look at these trichs... it was hard to tell what I was seeing last time.

Hell yeah that sucks... ive had problems too, that are out of the ordinary. makes you feel as if your baby had not been there the tree woulda feel in another direction...by the way they look great be sure to let us know how they finish up.

I was hoping for an oz. or two per plant. But I have had so many problems, I don't know what to expect. At this point, judging from a quick glance and taking into account I'm still a few weeks from harvest... I'm thinking at the very least a half oz. from each plant.

I would happy to get anything. Last year I had all males for my first try. This year, the flood that took out 8 of my 10 plants washed these two ladies down stream and I found them under a brier bush two days later! They looked like complete hell; wilted to shit. I re-potted, stuck 'em in full sun, and they recovered. I stuck them in the ground and they looked great up until tree-fall bullshit.... or whatever it is that is turning the leaves yellow with brown spots.

... so I don't know. They are about the right size for indica's (3 feet or so), so I suppose it is possible I might get the types of yield I originally expected. That would be fantastic.

LOL, yeah.... I just keep telling myself that most guerrilla growers eventually have animal problems, floods, trees... something. So that is comforting to know it isn't just me. My buddy is telling me this is God telling me to quit growing. I prefer to think it is Satan trying to keep this Christian from having a good harvest.

I'm glad you think they look good. The amount of dying leaves and brown spots has me really concerned, but at least most bud sites seem relatively healthy I guess (except for all the dirt and dust). I'll definitely post some pics if they finish well... I'm not sure if it'll be in this forum or not, maybe in the Harvest section.

Thank you. That makes me feel much better. Now that I think about it, I guess if I took the yellowing/dying leaves off the plant would look much better. Maybe most people do that, and that is why plants look so much more pristine in other pictures of flowering plants that I've seen. I don't know.

I'm going to leave the dying leaves on though. I have this theory that the plant sort of uses them as a trash can for excess minerals and wastes at this stage. I dunno... that's what I would do if I were a plant.

I definitely hope the buds fatten out a good bit more in these next few weeks.

It's best not to cut off the dying leaves and let them fall off on their own. The plants take back resources in the dying leaves, they suck up the "juices" before the leaf falls off.

If there is no green left at all on a leaf then fine, take it off, but if there is green let the plant suck it dry first.

Sorry about all your bad luck... At least you still have plants, most outdoor plants I've tried have been stolen or confiscated so I only do indoor now. You are having better luck as long as you actually get to harvest with them.
