A few questions about COBs and drivers.

Ok so i was hoping someone could clear up a few questions that have been troubling me the past few weeks.

Using a HLG-240H-C1400B for reference. Available voltage is 89-179.
Running 3 36v cobs.

1- What happens with the remaining 71v not being used , does it transfer into heat?

2- adding 2 more 36v cobs affects the 3 existing cobs how ?

Thanks

no the driver just pulls less power from the wall. your driver is a little less efficient and your cost per watt goes up due to unused driver space

not at all unless they are sharing an undersized heatsink and then you'll have a dip in efficiency

Awesome , that cleared up a few misconceptions i had.
Let me ask you another quick question.

Hypothetically , could i add 1 XP-E diode
On top of 3 36v cobs connected to the driver referenced above?

Your store Cobkits , where do you ship from? Do you stock items listed on your site or do you drop ship?

Thanks again for the quick reply.

sure its the same tech

some people like to mix them, i personally think for coverage either all cobs or all boards are preferable
