A few questions about dehumidification

Hello I am a bit late on this as I'm half way through the 4th week of flower but my country is very humid about 80% at its peak of the day

With a dehumidifier do I need to splash out on a digital one so I can keep it at an exact level or just one with a big enough tank?

I'm worried what if it's not digital and it keeps reducing the humidity to an extremely low level

Should I put a dehumidifier on the inside or outside of my tent? It's a very big room with two oscillating fans which contains the tent and windows are always open, I dont know if the dehumidifier needs to be in the tent but I bottom feed with fabric pots is this going to cause a problem?

Most dehumidifiers that are "digital" aren't accurate anyways. Either way make sure it will "auto restart after power outage". This way you can plug it in to a reliable controller like an inkbird humidity controller.

Dehumidifiers put out a lot of heat so be prepared for that. I run the dehumidifier outside the tent in the lung room with an AC unit recirculating. Also you can save the dehumidifier water for watering. It’s basically distilled water.

Thanks guys I had this issue with my digital humidifier no auto start up :( not that it was needed. I'll look up the humidity controller now

One last thing if I am someone who leaves his grow alone for 2 days at a time (as they feel they take forever if you keep looking in there) what will be a necessary size tank? They vary from like 0.5l to 10+

Are these inkbird humidity controllers accurate? Looks like exactly what I need even if there is no auto start up I'll just run it 24 hours alongside the fans and then it will help me in the drying stage too :)

I seriously doubt you can buy a dehumidifier that could reduce humidity to a poor state. Buy one with the largest tank possible. Just let it run.

I have a dehumidifier running 24/7 and it barely keeps the humidity below 40%. It really depends on the humidity in the area you live. Here the humidity on the worst few days a couple weeks ago was 100%. You could literally see the moisture hanging in the air. Had to empty the tank 4 times a day. You can hook them up to a drain though, never have to empty a tank, just have to make sure the drain hose doesn't get plugged.
I have to say, my dehumidifier doesn't put out any heat. I've seen people give that warning a lot but I don't think it applies to all of them.

They make great chillers for hydro grows.
You're screwed right there. You're never, ever going to be able to dehumidify planet earth.

You'd be better served buying a window AC unit and closing the windows.
I was just thinking last night, am I actually reducing the room humidity by 30% or am I reducing the planets humidity by 0.000000001% lol maybe us growers should come together and do it as a collective haha

I splashed out on a good dehumidifier digital ionizer auto on (it's on 247 anyway) the whole lot it works fast and well taking down to 40-45% which I guess is acceptable but when the tank fills while I'm sleeping I wake up with 70% :(

No bud rott as of yet

The one issue is the tube it comes with the instructions say to take off this bit of plastic to feed the tube out (it looks like it can be broken off but trust me I have nearly broken my fingers and I'm scared if I take a hammer to it I'll break the whole tank?

I'm unable to use the hose without the tank because when the tank is removed it turns off

I'm kind of paranoid to contact the company incase 5 0 watch their emails?

I'm posting a thread later when I'm more awake which will include grow photos i think you guys will like I'll post the link here

I already have a portable AC but I only put it in there on hot days theres already a tower fan in each corner, a 6inch extraction fan attached hed to the filter which is over powered it concave the tent like hell and the 2 oscillating fans in the actual room helping to move the hot air out of the windows

Reason being its already too loud and keeping me awake!!:(

Actually just knock that piece of plastic out with a screwdriver so you can connect the hose with the tank in.

Also I'm burning stupid amounts of electric I think if I add in the extra watts from the portable AC it will overload my sockets wattage limit
And my 12 hours on are at the 12 coolest hours of the day, I'm smart you see ;)

Find the switch that detects if the tank is in there and tape it or otherwise trick it so you can use the hose.
Good point I'll try now! And also put in my tent if I can fit it

Water won't flow uphill so make sure the hose goes downhill from the dehu. Also know that when the jug fills the dehu won't shut off and you will have a mess to clean.
