so here goes, im starting a indoor grow in an old wine cellar in the basement of my house. It has good ventilation and all that. i have a 1000 watt convertible hps mh light and im planning on doing a 30 - 50 plant grow in soil...the room is 8x8...im not new to growing but i am new to growing indoors. Ive done some resesrch on fert. but i got so many different answers so what Kind of fert. do u guys use during vegg. and flower.??? Another question i have is about co2regulators and stuff, where can i find a cheap possibly even used setup cause ive already put up like 600 for the light alone i dont wanna go and spend another 400 on a co2 set up. Another question is, is it worth if for me to do a scrog grow considering my room is fairly big and im not using clones??? and last but not least where can i find a cheap blower for my light???? those are my questions hopefully someone can help me out:mrgreen:

you're going to need a lot more than one 1000 watt light if you want a grow that big. you have about 145,000 lumens from that light which is good light for 18 square feet at 8,000 lumens per square foot. some people say you can cover 5x5 with a 1000 watt light but you're only at 6,000 lumens per square foot. so count on nine to fifteen females, depending on size.

what Kind of fert. do u guys use during vegg. and flower.?
i use the botanicaire series and supplements, but any of the brands carried by hydro stores is going to work out ok. just follow the manufacturer's recommendations, maybe starting with half the recommended doses, and you'll be fine.

about co2regulators and stuff, where can i find a cheap possibly even used setup
check ebay and craigslist, but buyer beware. a cheap co2 monitor/controller alone costs more than $400 new, the whole system will run $1,000 new by the time you modify your ventilation and include a co2 source (don't use a generator if you already have heat issues). no point at all in adding co2 if you are not actively controlling the concentrations.

is it worth if for me to do a scrog grow considering my room is fairly big and im not using clones?
it is worth it do any of a number of training techniques including scrog, topping, fimming and/or LST. it's up to you how much effort you want to put in to maximizing yield.

where can i find a cheap blower for my light?
again, ebay and craigslist. also, you are going to need at least one more blower to bring air into the room and perhaps an additional exhaust fan depending on temps.

30 - 50 plants are possible if your growing very small plants from clone. I personally do this. 35 plants under a 600 HPS. I've done this with floodbeds (ebb'n flow), and in 1 gallon bags of soil...you can view my journal in my sig if you'd like to see pics. I lollipop in weeks 2-3 and pruin fan leaves @ week #5....I yield from 1 to 1-1/2 lbs per 600 watt light.

imo, organic fertilizers via teas (view journal for my tea) for soil growing, General Hydroponics for hydro (LUCAS FORMULA)

...in order to maintain a 1500 ppm of co2 to your plants, you'll need to seal your room off (airtight) and, you'll need a co2 monitor first and foremost...I wouldn't buy used equipment personally, you never know how accurate/reliable it maybe...my monitor cost like $500 and some change, it has a light sensor that stops co2 production when the lights go off, which was an upgrade from my older one...pretty nice option to have. My propane co2 burner cost around $450 (non aircooled) the co2 burners are propane/natural gas burning flames and create alot of heat in your room...they sell the aircooled burners for like a grand, expensive but worth it...your also going to need some sort of a/c unit to keep things cool in an airtight room...your going to need a good dehumidifier to stop PM...exc, exc, exc. All in all, co2 control is expensive and takes alot of tweak'n, IMO....freash air is waaaaay easier to deal with.
...you could also go with the bottled co2, which requires a regulator along with the monitor. You'll also need to seal your room off ( airtight room) in order to maintain a 1500ppm.

Good luck man.

Well, my first reaction is that if you're new to growing inside, you should tone things down a bit. Start with just a few plants, see how things go, and then move onto more plants.

This seems a little ambitious to me - or I might just be jealous because I don't have this much room...lol

I think you should scale back on anything that you might not need at first - CO2 is something that seems a little over the top. But then, again, I don't do these sorts of big grows, so maybe it is completely necessary for your plans.

I really like using Advanced Nutrients for my grows - soil or hydro. I would go with something like Grow-Micro-Bloom to help you control your grow at all stages since the indoor grows tend to be pickier. Outdoor grows just seem to have more of what plants are used to using in order to grow if they weren't bothered by humans.

As for the rest of the setup, I think you have enough good advice from others. Though I still think you don't want to go too overboard when you're first starting out - even if you're experienced.

good luck there....
