1. What is the best way to germinate seeds?

2. Once germinated, what is the best methed for putting them into a media?
  • What media should I put the sprouted seeds into if planning on doing DWC grow?

3. When can I introduce a T5 to the seedlings and how close should it be to the plant-tops?

4. How should I care for the seedlings at first and when can i transfer them from a T5 to a 600W air-cooled HPS?

Thanks a lot!

Mr I Can Do That For Half
For me taking a paper towel folding it in half then in half again so its square then I get an empty cd jewel case, wet the paper towel place it in the open case open one fold like a book place seeds in then fold paper towel back over, close cd case and put the case in a zip lock bag. Close bag place in a warm cool are and in 24 hours to 48 hours seeds pop and have 1/2 inch tap root. I then prefer to split a rapi rooter down one side add seed root down close it back add a twist tie around to hold it closed pop it in a seed tray or rockwool or soil and start to go.. The light of the t5 can go over it at anytime then right away is good keep it almost touching the new seedling..Then when they are about 3 inches tall they can go under the 600 watter for first week about 24 inches away then lower it down using the hand heat test...palm of hand at plant top back of hand up lower light until heat just gets uncomfortable and then raise it 2 inches from there.

I use a paper towel. Wet it down and then put it in a tupperware container with the lid cracked. Have had no problems doing this. Just gotta make sure the towels don't dry and if you water them enough at first, they won't.

1. What is the best way to germinate seeds? For DWC, I would say put them strait into the (soaked in 5.5 ph water for 12+ hours) rock wool about 1/8 - 1/4 in deep.

2. Once germinated, what is the best methed for putting them into a media? See question one!

  • What media should I put the sprouted seeds into if planning on doing DWC grow? Also in question one!!

3. When can I introduce a T5 to the seedlings and how close should it be to the plant-tops? As soon as you set it in just keep it far away until you get a couple sets of true leaves then you can move it about 2 - 5 inches away.

4. How should I care for the seedlings at first and when can i transfer them from a T5 to a 600W air-cooled HPS? I would wait for the 3rd node to be well progressed but you can do a full veg under t5. I did my veg under cfls and then switched to the same rig you have for flower.

Thanks a lot!
DAY NOTA

I say rockwool because it give it a solid base to get a decent root base in and then you can put it in clay pellets, perlie, some random rocks you washed, marbles, and various other things.... doesn't matter too much whilst doing hydro.

Just a question for the people that do this, what advantage do you see in it?

I personally don't do this i just drop a bean in a hole about 2x the size of the seed. Water 1 time really good until drenched place it in a humidity dome and leave it along until it pops. Never lets me down

same thing for hydro except i put it in a rock wool starter plug. sometime i put a larger hole in the rock wool with my finger and fill it with coco

I just did seeds for the first time. Half gallon pots, 1/4 inch deep in soil, water, dome and done. Popped in about 3 days and as soon as they showed i put them under 400w MH. 10/10 :-)
