Ok been to pet shop and bought ph solutions 4 & 9 just need a little help as im a little confused with the first instruction

1. immerse the electrode in pH 6.86 under the temperature of 25 c standard buffer solution of phosphate, and gently shake electrode

2. regulate the timmer with a screwdriver until the buffer solution value corresponnding to the measurement temperature is obtained

3.immerse the electrode in pH4.01 or pH9.18 the standard buffer solution of borax

4. after about one minute, until the bufer solution value corresponding to the measurement temperature is obtained
any help greatly appreciated

Ok i only have solutions 4 & 9 do i need a 6.86? cost me £4.00 each for 40 mils! can i reuse it once i have calabrated my ph tester? just need a little advice as i dont want to mess it up also bit confused with the 6.86 solution needed

Anyone give me some advice on how to calibrate this ph tester
1. immerse the electrode in pH 6.86 under the temperature of 25 c standard buffer solution of phosphate, and gently shake electrode
2. regulate the timmer with a screwdriver until the buffer solution value corresponnding to the measurement temperature is obtained

yes you need that buffer as well, without an accurate reading on step one the other steps will have a false reading

Ok i finaly got the correct pH solutions to calibrate the pH tester, just 1 quick question, when i have dipped the pHtester in my solutions can i tip the solution back into its original bottle and reuse it at a latter date?

no once used it is contaminated and is no longer good, now if you buy vials just dump a small amount into a test tube and store the rest, but the used solution is garbage. also clean the probe before test

Ok got the ph tester, got the solutions 7 and 4, following these stupid instructions to calibrate....

1. immerse the electrode in pH 6.86 under the temperature of 25 c standard buffer solution of phosphate, and gently shake electrode

2. regulate the timmer with a screwdriver until the buffer solution value corresponnding to the measurement temperature is obtained

3.immerse the electrode in pH4.01 or pH9.18 the standard buffer solution of borax

4. after about one minute, until the bufer solution value corresponding to the measurement temperature is obtained

the problem is when i follow step 1 and emerse it a solution of 7, the digtal display is jumping up and down, and not settling on 7.0 no matter what i do with the little screw, anyone know what im doing wrong as this pH testing is seriusly doing my head in
