a little to dry, how to re-introduce moisture.

hey man,I am in the middle of jarring the finished product but i left my stuff hanging for a little too long. the temp was perfect for drying (60 F & 40% humidity) but as stated, it was left hanging a little longer than i wanted.

If i add a few apple peals or orange peals to the jars, will it re-introduce moisture to the buds? if so, will it affect the smoothness/taste? how can moisten the buds again?

thanks for reading this and getting back to me.

cheers.

curing evens the moisture levels in the bud out, the outside may feel too dry now but start curing and it will almost certainly even it out, if not then just do like you were thinking, fan leaves, orange peels, lettuce, it dont really matter which just be careful not to keep whatever you use in too long.

I had some bud that was a bit too dry. I put a few pieces of lettuce in the mason jar for just a few hours and came back and all was good again. Better to introduce moisture slowly than too much and get mold. I may put a few more pieces in tonight because this morning it felt a little dry again but definitely better than yesterday.

i would leave them in the jars for a bit longer before u burp, dont use orange peels man it will fuck up the taste/smell of the bud, only use lettuce or some shit when ur certain that ur bud wont re-moisturize.. happened to me, what i did was just leave them in the jar a good 36 hrs before burping, this allowed ample time to get some oisture back into the buds, hope that helped

As was mentioned, if someone has fresh fan leaves to put in jars with curing herb, that is a good way to rehydrate over dried herb. It is never a bad idea to gather some leaves that still have a decent amount of moisture when harvesting and bag and refrigerate them in case they are needed if over drying occurs.

Another is take a clean (preferably new so there is no chance of bacteria) sponge and cut small pieces from it, moisten them and put one in each jar. The sponge and water method has been popular with cigar smokers for many years for when their high dollar cigars become too dry.

If someone does not pack their bud into jars too tightly so they aren't pressed against the sides of the jars or if the jars are a bit taller than the length/height of the buds in the jars you can moisten a fingertip and rub it on the inside of the jars leaving just a thin film of water that will then be drawn in by the dry buds.

Things like a piece of bread will work and we have all heard of the orange peel thing and I have known people who used lime peels and lemon peels (depending on what they thought would best match or enhance the odor and or flavor) and I have known people who used thin apple slices. Virtually anything with moisture in it will work. Some are just more risky for mold and possibly adding odors or flavors people might not like.

lol, i seen your name and right away before i even read your post i was thinking of how i was gonna say the same thing. It's great to see you again, i was beginning to think we'd never see you again and that it was such a shame that a user who was contributing so much and who we really needed to help fill in the gaps left by the last generation of veterans basically leaving.
