Troublesome in the fact that many of the disrespectful people on this forum, for instance those that try to make the death of a daughter a joke... are always posting immature ramblings.

If the community wants to have respectful and courteous talks, have a friendly environment... then you have to be harsh to those that are the button pushers, we're not supposed to be trying to push each others buttons here... rollitup, at least the old one, was a community and rather close community... now we're all divided due to the crap that has populated these forums, a lot of the members of ol' are gone due to the same reasons.

So, do you want to see rollitup continue being a sandbox for immaturity and disrespectful folks, or would you like to try and make it better?

Do you want to feel like you're a valuable part of the community, or do you just not really care?

We all need to make some changes.

Oh I am a very valuable member of this community. One of the most valuable. But I also don't really care. Not on the most part. I don't see anything wrong with it the way it has been the past few months. Nor does most people. I know exactly how the members of ol' got banned. I was there. I know what they did, and were they went after they were banned. So you can go on with your Obama 'Change!', I agree. Some people should change. But I believe in free will more than anything. There is nothing anybody can do to stop free will.

We do not need members here that do not care about the forums, it's counter-productive and as you can see, leads to all kinds of bullshit and animosity on the forums... then again, you don't care.

As for change, Obama has nothing to do with it so I don't see why you would even mention his name...

And as for free will, well, you could do the internet equivalent of killing them... ban them... and if that doesn't work, rollitup could change to an invite only forum with much harsher rules, and a lot less members... but an overall more productive, close knit, willing to help each other community that rollitup used to be.

Hmmm... good thoughts there.

Running a forum isn't that expensive... and I'm sure most would be more than happy to donate to a forum which provides a positive, helpful, and informative atmosphere without having to worry about the troublesome one's that offer nothing to the community.

I doubt that part highly. Either way, most private forums, especially ones that offers easily accessible information, die.

See, that's the difference though... at least with the old rollitup, it wasn't about how easily accessible the information was on the internet, it was about the community.

We (growers) had a place to come to and talk to other growers, I remember many nights of good talks... hell I can't remember the last time I rolled a spliff and sat on RIU and just chatted with others, most of the stuff I see these days totally turns me off from wanting to get stoned and read it.

I resent that innuendo. LOL I totally grow. I have for years. I have a perpetual indoors and I grow outside every year. But there's not much to read once you've got it worked out. What is so fascinating that you used to read? Not much I'd say. But I'm not you.

Well you know then as a grower, you never stop learning... I like to grow how I grow, I use ebb and flow, it's worked for me for years and so I won't change... but I also like to learn about other styles, so that way if a new grower does come to me and asks my advice, I can not only tell him my personal way of growing, but can also list other grow methods that might be better suited for him.

Anyways... it wasn't all about fascinating reads... it was mostly about the mindset of the group, I was happy to come on rollitup and talk, it was very friendly... there weren't necessarily "cliques" around like there are now (evident when a topic about the police come up and I respond defending them) and people for the most part respected others opinions much better than is done now...

Just to clear up any misconception, I don't find it funny that this random idiots daughter died. I'm obviously indifferent to it, I don't know him, and didn't know her... it doesn't affect my day to day routine in the slightest. However, I am legitimately disgusted by the fact that he would publicize her death in a plea for attention. Absolutely every single rational person that I know would be too grief-stricken, and at the same time realize they have nothing to gain by posting about it on the internet. So while everyone else was "awww I'm sooo sorry," I was too disgusted to give a shit.

There's my serious post of the week, back to trolling these retards.

And that's your problem... you don't understand that people may find a different outlet for getting things out... I never ever saw Canuck's post as a plea for attention and was more than happy to toast a bowl to the memory of his daughter. I found it great he shared that with us...

Far from it, but if everyone in life was the same as they were on the webs nobody would have a day without confrontation. Some people take the internet too seriously (and they're always an easy target) and some people are sharp enough to take it at face value.

I understand the whole internet and face value thing, and I get it... I rely on that sometimes in hope's that I don't piss too many people off and hope they know that in the real world... I'm much more likable (I'd like to think).

But I also understand that to some, the internet is just as if we were talking face to face, they take it seriously... and I try to respect the people who view it that way as well, and on a community such as this, it would be nice if we could set that kind of standard... there are a lot of places to "troll" on the internet, why on a forum that is meant to be here to help... there are not that many GOOD growing forums out there anymore, and even though RIU has some bad sides, it still has a lot of the good.
