Hey, RIU'ers..
I am all read-up on proper harvest and curing and trust me, 98+% or more of my material is going thru just that.. so no lectures on my heresy, please.
But, for many reasons, most of us like to engage in a little early sampling. But, personally, I think the quick-dry methods I've seen of putting your bud in a microwave or oven set on low are bullshit -- I can just hear those trichs poppin' and splatterin' no matter how low the power is set.. So here's my clever idea:
1. Take a china or stoneware plate and put it in the microwave BY ITSELF..
2. Heat it for two minutes on HIGH
3. While the plate is heating, fold a paper towel evenly on itself twice -- gives you 4 layers of paper.
4. Pull the hot plate (careful! ) out, put your folded paper towel on it.
5. Put your bud under the top layer of paper and weight it down lightly with a nickel or such.. just to make contact.
6. Let it sit for 15 minutes or so.. check your bud. If you want a little more dryness, repeat the process.
The heat will come up from the plate; the paper will pull the moisture released.
Try it.. it makes for some sweet-ass smokin' bud, as long as the product quality is there to begin with.
And don't get carried away.. this no substitute for proper drying and curing.
