Now I'm not sure of where I should place this thread but I find it rather useful information.
When I first started growing I had a fair share of failed clones. I tried different techniques I read about online and through my friends, but rarely had good success (maybe 50% at best) when I did so. I came across a few techniques online which seemed to give me about a 70-80% success, until I decided to experiment on my own. I came up with my favorite technique of cloning ever! My friends love it, they downed it at first telling me it was too simple to work until they tried it themselves.
I shit you not but I've had about 95%+ cloning success with this method. If you are looking for a more effective means to clone, here ya go!
(sorry there are no pics, I will add if needed, but I haven't cloned in a few months now)
First off you will need the following items:
1) Plastic or paper cups, dixie cups will work fine
2) Some sort of Coco medium, I personally used nothing but CoCoTek bricks, also get brick Coco, not already broken up kind (if they even make such a thing)
3) Some Liquid Karma, made by Bontanicare. If you don't know what LK is, it's some amazing shit. I love the stuff and I feel like it is a MUST for my cloning technique. If you can't get LK, I am sure some other form of rooting nute would help out
4) Cloning powder/rooting hormone (not sure what kind I used, got from friend)
5) Something to mix your Coco in
6) Water
7) and obviously, clones
So now that you have your crap all together it is time to get to cloning.
First off you want to take your brick of Coco and follow the directions to soak it. Mostly all you need to do is place it in water and let it sit for X amount of time. From what I hear, certain Coco mediums need to be washed before use, I have never had such a product so don't ask me.
Once it is sitting it its bath of water it is time to add LK to the bath. Read the directions on the back of the bottle and add the amount suggested for rooting and cloning, it won't be too much. This allows for the LK to soak into the Coco from the get go, saturating all the medium with even amounts of nutrients.
After everything is soft and broken down, drain out excess water if there is any.
Next you want to start putting the coco in the cups. If the cups are big cut them in half and use the bottom half to put the Coco in, make sure to POKE HOLES in the bottom of the cups for drainage.
Next, dip your clones in the rooting hormone, poke a small hole in the coco for the stem to go into, and then place stem into hole. Pack very very GENTLY against the edges of the coco so that it makes contact with the stem in all places.
and BAM
THAT'S IT!
Just keep them watered when the coco feels dry, add LK to water feed if wanted (though not necessary, I don't think) and they should be good to go.
No need for anything to keep humidity in, no saran wrap or anything like that. Just take the cups and place under a small CFL or on a window sill. It will take about 2-3 weeks to form great roots.
Any questions/suggestions/criticism is appreciated! I'm just posting what works great for myself and a handful of friends.
