A simple yet extremely effective cloning technique

Now I'm not sure of where I should place this thread but I find it rather useful information.

When I first started growing I had a fair share of failed clones. I tried different techniques I read about online and through my friends, but rarely had good success (maybe 50% at best) when I did so. I came across a few techniques online which seemed to give me about a 70-80% success, until I decided to experiment on my own. I came up with my favorite technique of cloning ever! My friends love it, they downed it at first telling me it was too simple to work until they tried it themselves.

I shit you not but I've had about 95%+ cloning success with this method. If you are looking for a more effective means to clone, here ya go!

(sorry there are no pics, I will add if needed, but I haven't cloned in a few months now)

First off you will need the following items:
1) Plastic or paper cups, dixie cups will work fine
2) Some sort of Coco medium, I personally used nothing but CoCoTek bricks, also get brick Coco, not already broken up kind (if they even make such a thing)
3) Some Liquid Karma, made by Bontanicare. If you don't know what LK is, it's some amazing shit. I love the stuff and I feel like it is a MUST for my cloning technique. If you can't get LK, I am sure some other form of rooting nute would help out
4) Cloning powder/rooting hormone (not sure what kind I used, got from friend)
5) Something to mix your Coco in
6) Water
7) and obviously, clones

So now that you have your crap all together it is time to get to cloning.

First off you want to take your brick of Coco and follow the directions to soak it. Mostly all you need to do is place it in water and let it sit for X amount of time. From what I hear, certain Coco mediums need to be washed before use, I have never had such a product so don't ask me.

Once it is sitting it its bath of water it is time to add LK to the bath. Read the directions on the back of the bottle and add the amount suggested for rooting and cloning, it won't be too much. This allows for the LK to soak into the Coco from the get go, saturating all the medium with even amounts of nutrients.

After everything is soft and broken down, drain out excess water if there is any.

Next you want to start putting the coco in the cups. If the cups are big cut them in half and use the bottom half to put the Coco in, make sure to POKE HOLES in the bottom of the cups for drainage.

Next, dip your clones in the rooting hormone, poke a small hole in the coco for the stem to go into, and then place stem into hole. Pack very very GENTLY against the edges of the coco so that it makes contact with the stem in all places.

and BAM

THAT'S IT!

Just keep them watered when the coco feels dry, add LK to water feed if wanted (though not necessary, I don't think) and they should be good to go.

No need for anything to keep humidity in, no saran wrap or anything like that. Just take the cups and place under a small CFL or on a window sill. It will take about 2-3 weeks to form great roots.

Any questions/suggestions/criticism is appreciated! I'm just posting what works great for myself and a handful of friends.

I just use solo cups with vermiculite and rooting powder. Put them in a rubbermaid tub with a piece of plexy glass on top. I just spray once a day, I haven't lost a clone in over a year.
Same deal in winter? Are you in a tropical place?

I find it way harder to clone in winter 39°N.

I cut fan leaves off to let the shoot grow a bit before cutting it. I have a 1g container with an air stone and nute solution suitable for seedlings. Cut the shoot at the base, trim to an acute angle. Place in nutrients under a clear dome to trap respiration. Wishing a week or so you should see roots start to shoot out. Lights should be veg spectrum, 20/4.. Any questions hmu.

You place the cuttings directly in the nutrient enriched, aerated h2o? Not above it? So they are always submerged at the acute cut end?

If you think you are superman with biggus dickus, just wait until you build a bubble cloner ....lol

returns are above 95% in 10 days max, is fun, I stress that,
Fun!! and is used by me and others as an emergency room for failing plants too,
should you ever be so unlucky

I clipped two shoots each from an ak47 and ogk.. The ogk is the only one that I cut at the base and the only one that rooted. The other three stayed alive in the nutrients but never rooted. I believe the reason is that I clipped them at around the second node..

its vital that roots or root nubs be kept in the dark as the hormone 'E' something in english is required to 'make the roots'...its not really growing roots with cloning but more about
teasing out the cambium layer just under the bark, it no biggy so long at its warm and lots of oxygen, gentle soft light, you will be grinning in 10 days, so why feed a plant that has no roots and is only gonna be in the cloner for 10 days..?
Feeding clones, in solution is just another way of allowing bacteria to rot your clones out?

Neat micro setup. I don't know that it will root my 100% Sativa cuttings. I have used the Octo-cloner and aero setup and all that happened is what happened to you: Nearly all survived, but never rooted. I finally shut it off after three weeks, with only one that showed little rootlets that didn't make it either after ten days. I have since tried taking the pump out of the aero setup and just have the ends touching the nutrient enriched h2o, using Olivia's cloning solution for a 4.5 gallon setup. That setup has gradually turned the ends mushy soft, and it looks like a failure as well.

Tomorrow, I am going to take a male and remove 8 of the healthiest branches moving down from the top instead of up from the bottom as I have been doing. Then instead of trying to root from the bottom of the branch, I will lightly scrape the green outer tissue from at least two nodes and leave the internode mostly alone (up till now I've only gone above or below a node, not directly on it). See if that works.

My one so-far success is the Air Layered branch that finally rooted after 2 weeks. I severed it from the mom (i'ts 3/8" diameter at the severed end) and stuck the whole thing in organic Ph'd 6.0 organic soil. 36 hours later, in a grow tent, it is still living, Agro T5 light, 24 hrs on, no off. "Radical" , but all the pampering didn't seem to yield anything to all those other cuts after 6 weeks but frustration, hostility, anger, and depression.

Makes 'sense', so to speak. I agree that nutes, maybe a trace for good luck, are not necessary. Teasing that cambium layer is a very big biggie in a hard to clone species like Sativa (100%, not a cross) is the mystery I'm dealing with.

I can't wait till my newer seedlings from fresh primo seeds are large enough to take my first cuttings to see if this cloning thing that hasn't been working for me is really mostly down to genetics. I've done the no nutes Aero-cloner thing, with others like vermiculite, perlite, and other neutral media like rockwool, peat pots, and rapid rooters (my ass!) warm temps below, lots of Oxygen, soft light, Marley on a light tempo beat, and cool leaf ambient air above the media. None worked.

Vos,

Are any of the cuttings from purely Sativa plants? No cross, just Sativa?

My Keralya strain from India(sativa 100%) is a total bitch to clone, you can do stuff that does improve the odds of nubs growing, like studying up this cambium thing, or exposing more of the surface to the 02, like like scrap more of the bark of, my babe thinks I'm crazy, but she prefers to grow clones in damp warm sand, of the believe the plant_let is searching for water?? but I'm done and dusted while she is still waiting ..lol
My favorite technique is to grow them out on the plant, simply scrape the bark to 2 inches then cut and attach a wet rapid rooter to the stem, hold it with a nylon tie or wire, then wrap the rooter in kitchen foil, keep damp and warm with NO LIGHT, is ready in 2 weeks, then snip it off to grow out in its own pot, we all struggle with Sativa's(100%) but be patient it does take about 2-3 weeks to take

This works because cannabis is an herbaceous plant. This means it can be propagated the simp

The ones that didn't take for me turned slimy and nubby. Like the woody main stalk.

The best way i take clones is buy a propergator around 15pound buy root riot cubes some clonex and a scapel what i do is i take the clones from my mother plant and then i use the scapel to cut a 90 degree angle put in root riot and then in prop with lid on and under hps 600w and withing 8days have roots easy way

600 Watts of HPS???

I've never seen anyone get roots with that much much light. Is your prop swirling water, or just aerated or both?

All i do i fill bottom tray with 200ml water so keeps it nice and warm and spray every 3 hours sorry for hps light on just a quick pic to show
I've done it the same way, but for the light. Which I have repeatedly been advised to keep very low wattage for at least several weeks.

I have an OCto-cloner, 4.5 gallons of distilled h2o, that has a very weak Olivia' cloning solution, and have put over 30 cuttings into it with not one single clone to show for it. Water temp at 76-88 degrees F and ambient temp at around 67-85.

I know clone crosses are rooting, but this is all pure sativa, and only one rooted while on the mother plant, (Air Layered) and I'm waiting to see if even it survives.

If you are cloining primarily indica dominant strains, then I don't know that this method will work. So far, it has not.
