I know this is a long post and we are all stoners, so please bear with me

So as the title states, this is my first attempt to grow. Since I have a fairly private back yard, I first planted four seeds in potting soil (one per pot) and put them into the sunniest spots my yard had to offer since sun is king. The only problem is there is no sun. I have so many trees in my back yard that in the best spot would get maybe 2-3 hours of direct sunlight plus the squirrels love to dig up my seeds. Therefore, I feel indoor is my only option.
My goal is not to get some crazy yield or perfect weed. This is more of an experiment to see if this is for me or worth all the time/effort/money. Only thing I want is to produce some smokable weed that will get me high and not so skimpy that it takes me a few hours to cut leaves and find the buds after a few months.
I have a nice sized shed in my back yard that is about 6x6x10 (LxWxH). It has one small window that I plan on blacking out and about 6" of space at the top where the roof meets the structure for ventilation. In one of the corners there is a large cabinet that basically makes the open "free" space in an "L" shape. From what I have read, the smaller the space the better as long as there is sufficient ventilation/humidity/ect. Therefore, I plan to use the smallest corner of the "L" shape floor plan for the grow spot since it would give me three walls fairly close together. I might also cover those three walls with mylar or flat white pant. Sorry for all the details. I just do not want to leave anything potentially important out.
Anyway, I plan to grow 4 plants and only keep 1-2 (toss the males). If I get lucky enough to get all female, Ill keep 2, maybe 3 of the best looking ones. The seeds I have are from good mids i had since I do not know how to get quality seeds. The most important factor in this grow is I am on a budget. If this works out, I will definitely invest in high quality HPS lights and what ever else I need to grow impressive weed. For now, though, I plan on keeping things simple. With that said this will be a fluorescent/CFL grow. I currently have a T12 fluorescent light with two 40w 3150 Lumen 6500k bulbs, and I plan to do my veg grow with this light. This is all I have ready so far. I plan to later get a few CFLs at 2700k and switch my T12 bulbs with a more red color bulb for flowering. What advise and/or problems do you guys see with my setup? Remember, I am not looking for perfect.
A few questions:
1. What is good soil to use? I was thinking of getting some hummus compost soil (I think thats what it was called..)
2. I am having a hard time finding usable CFL lights that can use a high wattage bulb (high Lumens). What CFLs should I use and where can I find the light, NOT BULB? Preferably not an online only place.
3. When in the veg stage of the grow would it hurt to add CFLs at 2700k for the extra lumens or vise-versa?
4. How important is fertilizer? If I just plant them in soil and never fertilize would the plant be fine?
5. Can I just plant one seed per pot in the soild, put the T12 over them, and have them grow?
I basically want to see if I can grow some smokable weed with a minimal setup. Any advice or positive comments are greatly appreciated.
