Accidentally topped banana blaze auto - progress oics

Hey everyone!

Last week I accidentally topped my banana blaze auto plant while lst training. I didn’t have the time or the knowledge to try to tape the broken section back on so I just left what remained as an experiment. As you can see, the plant broke pretty low down. There were around 3 true leaf sets below the break.

So far she seems to be growing pretty well! The images below/Imgur link are over the course of one week. I have continued lst on the remaining side branches and I am seeing some pretty decent growth coming off of them. Some of the leaves are a little weird with an even amount of fingers so hopefully she isn’t going to hermie on me once flowering starts

What do you guys think I should expect from her? I’m not expecting a lot of weight off of her given the fact that her main stalk broke off. Should I continue LST to break apical dominance? I don’t want to stress her more than she already is!

Looks fine man! Just keep the LST going until she starts properly stretching. This will buy you time to veg the plant some more.

I accidentally topped one of my stardawgs and she bounced right back.

Yield is too early to tell but decent lightening and nutes I’d expect 2-4ozs as it looks like a fairly decent sized pot.

Oh here’s that strardawg. Only in a 3L pot but got some nice colas forming.

Awesome, thanks! I was pretty upset when it happened but hopefully she will keep growing strong! She’s in a 7 gallon pot 2/3rds full with ffof+perlite and the top third is seed starting soil. I haven’t started nutes yet, not sure when I should start. Apparently, she’s a low nute strain so I don’t want to burn her

She looks awesome!

I top all of my plants after the 4th node, so this is not that different. I'm betting she'll be fine and put more energy into the branches she has to work with.

Is that DP's Banana Blaze?

I’ve always been scared of topping autos, I’m glad it works out for some people.

I've topped all but one auto I've grown, about two dozen at this point. With the exception of the 3 plants I'm growing out in the open on a table (an experimental seed run), all have been outdoors. Only one took badly to being topped, all the rest produced well. It's just my hypothesis, but I think that they can produce more when their focus is distributed to several primary colas instead of just one. Strains can be so different from each other though, it's hard to find a rule that is universal.

Great to see some Dutch Passion autos being grown here! I recently bought a bunch of their seeds, but probably won't get to see them in action until next summer's outdoor.

She needs no extra food right now. A one off feeding of molasses: 1/2tsp gal ratio, would help establish microbes without adding much NPK.

Id stick to water and root stim (if u got) until
Stretch is over if it’s all green. Any bottom yellowing introduce nutes at 1/2 strength and work your way up from there.

Wow that’s awesome that you have had so much success! I’ve heard that the more “modern” autos can take a fair amount of hst.

Hopefully this grow goes well! When I topped this one I dropped another seed in the soil after a 24 hr soak but it never ended up germinating. I probably should’ve done a paper towel soak like with this plant but at least this one seems to be doing ok

I think I actually have some molasses hanging around so I’ll give it a try! Is that 1/2 tsp per gallon of soil or gallon of water?
Edit: the molasses I have is from the feed store and it has propionic acid. Is that ok to us?

yea 1/2tsp per gal of water.

Not sure on the molasses, I used unsulphured blackstrap molasses for baking. I’d double check that molasses before using it to be on the safe side.

Ok thanks I’ll definitely check first! I definitely notice a touch of yellowing on the bottom single leaves. If she continues to yellow over the next few days I’ll introduce some nutes
