Acclimating your seedlings to the sun

Yeaterday was the first day I put my seedlings outside to get alittle sun, I put them underneath direct sunlight for about 3 to 4 hours. Maybe I should of just gave them alittle less because some of them are starting to show signs of burnt leaves and purple growth... is this because of to much direct sunlight? And what can I do to prevent this?

Most people are saying start it in the shade when switching it to outdoors.
Yeah I've heard that as well from mendo dope in there videos dont know why I didn't do that yesterday... well I hope it doesn't get any worse only was out there for 4 hours... so you think I should find a spot that's got half shade, and half sunlight?

It's called hardening them off. I put them in a semi shady spot from 4 to 7 days before sticking them in the sun.

Ok thanks for the info yeah this was a obvious mistake I knew I shouldn't of done it ... how long do you think itll take for some of the plants that have purple growth, and burnt leaves to recover and start growing rapidly again?

As long as you haven't transplanted and everything else is the same. It shouldnt slow down the growth all that much really. Not enough damage on it to slow it down.

Remember to slowly adjust your plants to the sun

If you have a porch or a open space in your home that gets direct sunlight let them soak it up for a good 30mins the first day, hour the second and keep allowing them more and sun light, Itll take about a week for them to adjust and hardened off

Once hardened off they're pretty much safe to stay outdoors

Ok yeah I live in MA where the weather is still a bit chilly. Had a warm day yesterday, and today but after that its gonna go back down to the 40s for a week or two so I'm just gonna wait til its consistently 55+ degrees with sun...

Yes, I'm over here in the Midwest and by what my farmers almanac is saying Last frost date is April 29th, even though today its 77F High, Low of 63F, rest of the week is in the 50/60F and mid 30s to 40F at night

Yes we could plant outside as long as its above 40 at night but if it drops below that well your plants will be shocked and stunted
