Account problem, no ability to format text..... no buttons at all in reply box etc...

No buttons at all in the reply box eg. font/images/bold/italic/etc.................. and no ability to add a paragraph break.............. I have been forced to use a line a periods to separate thoughts......................... I realize you guys are working on other pressing issues, I get that but if it is an easy fix it would be great if you could correct it, I know it could take a while............... The issue is pretty obvious, I wrote all the above with paragraph breaks etc but added the periods because I know how it will turn out when I post it........................................................OK, NOW FOR MY DETAILS............Mozilla Firefox version 28.0...................I have not tried other browsers, I only use firefox but I will try IE in a minute after I update it and see if it will work or not and post the results................The first time this happened was last night at about 11pm, here is the first post it effected (I later edited the post to try to fix it, see post below it for the same glitch etc) https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/802346-cascadians-continuing-grow-journal-600-a-15.html#post10376694 ..........................My computer is a couple years old (HP), running Windows 7............Let me know if there is any other info you need, Thank You.

This is due to the issues currently happening. IE IS WORSE than firefox, so you'll still have problems its affecting all browsers

gunna add in this is happenign to just about everyone, myself included, not much we can do but wait till its solved sorry cascadian

Thanks for the quick reply sunni, I am testing IE as I type and can see the bottons above the reply box but only every 3rd or so letter I type actually shows and the space bar doesn't work (I am sure you already know this, just making sure).............. Oh, and I cannot highlight any text I am typing either.................

I haven't seen others with the formatting issue, but I trust it is happening............ Took forever to type this, lol...........Thanks, and good luck fixing the issue!!...............

Testing the uploader for the hell of it now........nope, no go.............................Peace

if you go advanced and click manage attachements you can upload a photo from there from most browsers at the moment.

Well at least the formatting works with IE and looks like the uploader worked even though I couldn't see the image when I hit "post".

Thank for that tip, I don't think I can go advanced from firefox but I will try. Going to switch back to firefox the typing issue is worse, you were right.......

Boy, RIU has dealt with issues like crazy lately! Feels like between being listed as an attack site, coding issues, things vanishing, and the fact that the servers seem pretty consistently overloaded, the site is just dealing with one problem after the next. Everything going ok for you guys? lol Also, that's the only WAY I've been able to upload pics at all for the couple months or so since i've been back. It used to be easy, but now it's 4 at a time through the attachment manager. Not that i'm overly discouraged. This has been my home site for a long time.

How did it break? Things like this don't just break on their own. Why can't the admin just revert whatever changes he made to the config settings? This is just getting ridiculous. I've noticed many more problems than just the formattting bar and buttons all being gone. You can't even break your post up into paragraphs now as it strips newlines.

If you hit ctl I or B to format text through hotkeys, the hotkeys go directly to your browser now (ctl- I opens my bookmark tab)

Hmm, also can't reply in the same window anymore, as it redirects you to a reply page. But the issue I was having was when I would select text and bold it, it would bold EVERYTHING that came after it, not just what I had selected. I ended up having to type an entire reply in a place where the bold wasn't active, and then move it all to the right places. It's a pain in the ass, but before complaining too much...remember that you're NOT paying to use this site. It's a free service. If they wanted to strip the site down to a basic and boring site, they can. If they wanna hype it up to epic proportions, they can... But as it stands... there's only so much complaining i'd be willing to tolerate as a site owner or global mod before just giving up. They aren't running this site to become rich, and whether they make any money (through ads) or not, it's a site dedicated to helping others grow. I might complain because, as the site that I really care about, it's difficult for me to interact with others on it. But if I really get fed up, there's no use bitching... I'll just move on to somewhere new.

While I agree with you that it is a free site and I could just go somewhere else, I feel like that excuse only goes so far. At some point, people will take you up on that and leave for competitors.

Lol, yeah, been getting that a lot lately too. And the 500 Server Error.

Sunni, Is this another V-bulletin issue, or is it something to do with just this site? What I mean is, are the Sys-Ops turning off the functions (such as the "like" button), or is this just happening at random?

Okay, I see what is happening (sort of) The javascript file that defines vBulletin_init (http://asset1.rollitup.org/vbulletin-core.js?v=422) is not being loaded.

When I try to access it manually, it gives me the same security error everyone's been getting, then when I look in my debugger, the file is not included.

It's fixed (for me at least).

I went to the javascript url in my last post, and "ignored" the security warning, and now all those features are working properly.

I'd like that post if I could.
