Actinovate fungicide

Quick question. I am going to use actinovate fungicide and silica foliar spray with a couple drops of dawn dish soap. It's not antibacterial dawn, just regular. Will it kill the actinovate beneficial bacteria or is it ok to use?

Well, not knowing how the fungus could react any differently than expected when exposed to certain compounds, I would only use the product alone and only as directed for it's full true effect as intended by the manufacturer.

Kinda what I was thinking. I ordered some yucca organic wetting agent just to be in safe side. Thanks for reply.

When investing in microbials, it's important to provide them with as conducive an environment for proliferation as possible in order to get your money's worth. The soap won't kill the bacteria, but it may hinder its ability to colonize the leaf surface as rapidly as without. Saponins, the wetting agents in yucca, are known to contain antibacterial & biocidal properties.

I have already changed my mind. I was reading on a tomato forum that molasses makes a good spreader-sticker. Not only does it provide microbes with some food, it also has micro-nutes beneficial to the plant. The reason I chose yucca to begin with is that the directions on the actinovate bag say to "use it for best results", but I need to spray today and didn't have access to any. What do you think about the molasses idea? Says to use 1tbsp per gallon.

I agree with you on molasses, all true. To feed the bacteria a 1/4 to 1/2 tsp per gallon will do. I'm assuming the extra molasses is for sticking purposes.
If the product recommends yucca, by all means use it. Even though saponins contain said properties, the only way to find out its effects on specific strains of bacteria, is with a microscope. I'm sure Actinovate has done this for us. I would love to hear about your results either way. Good luck!

Actinovate is almost all sugar by dry weight, to feed the bacteria. I have never tried it with Dawn but it might apply better with it. Just call and ask them.
