Adding 600watt Good Idea?

Heya RIU com, just had a quick question. I am currently 18 days into flowering purple train wreck & Lemon Skunk under a 400 HPS w/ a daystar reflector & Lumatek Ballast. I was thinking about adding a 600 to run along side my 400watt light. Anyone know if this will benefit my current grow?

i think the 6 ought to be able to handle 8 plants. i know there is a point where you can damage them i think they call it light bleaching or something like this but i dont know what the math is to determine that.

that would be like having a thousand watts for 8 plants. i think you could do it.

Hey man, sounds like you are planning on having the same set up as me.... i got a 4x4x7 tent... I had a 600w and eventually added a 400 ..... at first they were side be side .. like this ... I I ... but i eventually placed them like this ... - - ... (i hope your getting my little description) They were giving off ALOT of heat... so i had to Cool tube them... and also change my extractor to a stronger one... It helped alot but not enough.. and that is when i decided to buy an air intake... now my temps hang around the 82F... and humidity always between 45-50RH...
The only problem is that with the same amount of plants i only produced a quarter more than i would without the extra 400 ... after 2 harvests.. i decided to sell the 400, and the cool tube for it.. and im keeping the money to invest in a better reflector...

So i would say if you wanna optimize your grow space.. Maybe change the 400 for a 600 ... and get yourself an awsome reflector, and a big ass extractor and youll be Gooood!!

peace

Thanks for your opinion, I appreciate your thoughts. I figured it would be easier if I just posted a couple pics of my set-up. Should I add the the 600 I would just move my 400 over and put my exhaust fan in the middle... like this 400-Exhaust-600w Thanks for the help.

just 1 600w

use 400 to veg another 8
I actually thought about that but I do not have the space for another tent so both lights are more then likely going in...but I do have a 200watt 6700k CFL made by hydrofarm and 2 18 gallon containers that I am considering turing into a veg chamber, would save on a lot of space.

I have a 2 seeds germinating atm, I'm considering using them as mothers and trying my hand at cloning and maybe a scrog grow...but I have not clue as of yet.

Cool, I dont think that the exhaust being placed in the middle of the 2 lamps would extract the heat enough.. Im telling you man, 2 lamps together in such a small space... ITS HOT!!! Usually with grow tents we place the extractor fan outside the tent, pulling the air out... I see you have a hydrofarm reflector... Can it be vented using ducting?? cause you could hook your extractor to that one with the 600 in it, and extract only the hot air produced by that lamp, and have the 400 unvented,... that one shouldnt be the major heat issue...
ANy way,
Keep us posted on what your gonna do:)

Good growing, n Peace out:)
