Adding co2 the RIGHT way!

I have been running this for a couple weeks just heading into flower. I have a journal on this grow if you want to check it out. Thelink is in my sig. SO far best temp is around 85 as far as plants not getting stressed. Over that I see alot of cupping in the leaves and they just seemed stressed. 1400-1500ppm co2 and humidity right about 45%. So far everything looks happy;) Here is one week of growth under my 1000w. Seems pretty good to me.

Hi every1,

Just thought i would add 1 more little thing about Co2. During my own research into what additions i would make to my own room Co2 came up, and i have read that elevated Co2 levels during the later flowering period can slow the ripening of the buds thus making your plants take longer to finish. It would well be worth reducing levels down to average ambient 300-600ppm.

Just Seal the room and run a "closed loop" system........problem solved.....But your going to need a Big dehumidifyer for a closed loop system......and or course you can scrub the air back in the room it dosent need to leave the room.......

dunno that anyone hit on this but if you're running a single hose portable ac you're pumping co2 right out the exhaust.

Thats what I do. Now a' days they call sealed rooms C.E.A " Closed Environment Agriculture" If you have a good AC ( not single hose ) you can just use your AC as fresh air /dehumidifier. For instance I live in AZ all houses come with AC units so in my spare bedroom ( grow room) I run a sealed environment and use my AC, with the cooler weather though I'm thinking about bringing in air from the outside to cool the room down, and make my lavender purple at lights on.

Yeah you need a mini split AC or central AC ( like in a house) you can get away with using one of the dual hose AC's it will suck some co2 out but not like a single hose unit. For instance in a 10' x 10' grow room I make a 20 Lb Co2 tank last 7-10 days

I am running a completly sealed room, 8k, 10" max fan scrubbing through a can 150 filter, but also portable single hose a/c exhausting out the chimney.

I have my ppm's set at 1100 and i only seem to go through a 20lbs tank in 6 days sometimes 7 days.

Not to thread jack but is my A/C pulling out too much co2? I have 2 ppm readers across the room from the A/C and co2 burner and they seem to stay around 1100 - 1200 consistantly..

I have a 18x12 room with a 12 burner generator if that makes a difference?

Single Hose exhaust AC's suck out your Co2 for sure. How often are you filling your tank??? I have a sealed room and my Co2 PPM is set at 1500 and I get 7-8 days on a 20 pound co2 tank.
I use a Co2 tank not a burner but I assume you fill it up with propane every week?

Yeah I have a 9 gallon tank and only fill it up once every 10 days if its set at 1100 or 1200, When it gets bumped up to 1400 or 1500 its about every 7 days.

(AS OF RIGHT NOW) The controller I have is set up to turn the burner on when the room hits 1000 ppm or lower, and from that time until both ppm readers 18' across the room hit 1400 - 1450 is only about 10 maybe 15 seconds.. (I feel like that pretty fast)

How much does it cost to fill your 20 pound tank? I pay $15 about every week, so about $60 a month. How does that compare to your co2 charges? Just trying to figure out if im spending too much on propane?

Thats pretty good seeing that you use a single hose AC too.. I know some growers that run thiers at 1200 too so they dont have to refill so often. I was only getting 5 days out of my tank and then i weather stripped the door and I got a few more days out of my tank. My 20LB tank is 18 bucks to fill up. Propane is much cheaper I just went with the tank route because I grow in Phoenix, AZ and high temps are bad enough so I went with the tank. Sounds like you have your shit together dude, good luck.

I actually have a few friends that grow in AZ as well, and they have to run co2 tanks as well because there Dehumidifier's and ballast's in the room are bad enough temp wise as it is. One of them purchased a house that has a mini split A/C in all 3 bedrooms, so needless to say he lucked out.

Yeah but now after looking more into what you said about the portable A/C's, my christmas present to myself might have to be a split A/C (or maybe closer to summer time)

Yeah mini splits are the way to go. In AZ all our homes ( the new ones at least ) come with Central AC so I have my room in a spare bedroom about 10'x10'x8' high so thats what I use in the summer time to keep everything cool that and I have a 675 Max Fan pulling air from another room to keep things cool with the 1000W. The weather right now is about 75 degrees tops in the day and about 50 at night so I havent had to use the AC in a few weeks but I plan on using my single hose portable AC to come on at lights off to bring out the purple in my lavender strain and keep the humidity down.. At lights on my temps are good they never get over 82.

If you think that co2 will not increase growth rates and yield then you should also know that the experienced people on this site will instantly know that you don't know what the hell your talking about. Actually, there isn't one portion of $wager's post that is actually technically correct. Stomata close as a response to moisture stress. In short.. co2 ROCKS!!

Anyways, beaverhuntr nailed it. Tightly seal your room, run the scrubber only when you need it (mine runs about 18 hours a day in the last 2-3 weeks), and let your co2 controller do the rest. The AC will maintain temps or it will maintain humidy, it can't be set to do both at the same time. My split AC generates about 1.5 gallons of water a night. I also have two more dehumidifiers that run 24/7. They keep humidty down in the 40's and also keep the room warm at night which is KEY to prevent stretch and fatten up buds.

Yes, you can run higher temps with co2..it actually works best at high temps, but in my experience, 90 is WAY to high. your buds will get very fluffy and heat stressed at those temps. I run 82 room and 85 canopy for most of my grow, I turn down the heat to 78-82 for the last 3 weeks or so. I run 1500 all the way through my grow.

I thought I should add that mounting your scrubber vertically with the fan on the bottom will allow you to really increase air circulation under your canopy by simply putting a 90 degree elbox on your fan outlet.
